F&FW’s “Throwback Weekend”: Juliet & Mike Return!

December 28, 2013

Huddy’s Philly Sandwich: tasty but stale? Today, former F&FW co-hosts Juliet Huddy and Mike Jerrick returned to their old stomping grounds for a “Throwback Weekend” (as aptly described by F&FW meteorologist Janice Dean). To make things interesting, the concupiscent couple rejoined regular anchor Clayton Morris for a Yuletide romp on the curvy couch.

Yesterday morning, Juliet announced the big news of their reunion, Tweeting, “Oh my…lock up the kids… hosting @foxandfriends thos [sic] weekend w my old pal in crime @MikeFOX29 aka JERRICK! & @ClaytonMorris. Tune in!” For her fans the news was momentous: the leggy lovely had not been flanked by her “Philly guys” to make “a Philly sandwich” since August 2011 (if the author’s memory serves him correctly). And, if Clayton and Mike were right in 2011 about their saucy siren, perhaps, Juliet “needed help” again “with [her] plumbing.”

Consequently, when the author tuned in this morning to the “Throwback” fun, he half-expected the old F&FW opening of a blushing, beaming Juliet listening to blond beauty Jenny McCarthy bawdily declaring, “Yes, the carpet does match the drapes!” Instead, the oft profane Andrew Dice Clay tamely introduced Fox & Friends [Weekend]: Cutely coiffed Mika-style, Juliet reappeared this morning in the middle of her Philly boys as the lady in the red dress–demurely cut with a high neck, longer sleeves, and a midi hem. Not necessarily boding well for those expecting vintage Mike and Juliet.

When the show started in earnest subsequently, Mike turned to his long-time colleague, saying, “Oh! Hi, Juliet! Good to see you.” Eying her freshly shorn head impishly, he remarked, “I like the new hairdo!” Teasing her seemingly about her more mature mien all the more, he playfully displayed her reading glasses, jibing, “And, now you’re wearing glasses. I haven’t seen you in a while!”

Grabbing her spectacles from Mike’s hands and putting them back on the table,  a smiling Juliet jauntily riposted, “Oh, shut up! Get away from me.”

With arched eyebrows and a glint in his eye, Clayton mischievously interjected, “You know, they say [that] when a woman cuts her hair or puts on glasses like there’s some sort of thing going on in her life.” Apparently, acknowledging her recent engagement to her Mr. Wright, a grinning Juliet replied, “Yeah, there’s a lot of things going on in my life!”

Later, in the segment, Mike alluded to the Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration this year and recalled how cold it was when he and Juliet had hosted FNC’s New Year’s Eve festivities. In their segue to Janice, Juliet asked her if she remembered her and Mike’s hosting. In response, Janice declared, “I do. This is like Throwback Weekend here!”* And, it was: But, eleven years later–with someone new.

And, that someone was Clayton. When the second hour began, Mike declared, “We take you back to 2002: Look, it’s Mike and Juliet on the couch again!” Turning to Clayton, Juliet laughed, “You don’t look like Julian Phillips [their whilom African American co-anchor]! Grinning, Clayton answered, “I know. I’m not Julian Phillips.”

And, today, Mike and Juliet were not quite “Mike and Juliet” either. As usual Mike appeared to be his ever randy testosterone-infused self: But, today, bereft of her tresses, Juliet seemed especially estrogen deficient–and wanting a Miley moment [NSFW VMA 2013 vid]. Tomorrow may be a whole new day.

Huddy & PAB: “Simply the Best”?

December 26, 2013

The girls are back in town! Former Fox & Friends First co-hosts Juliet Huddy and Patti Ann Browne opened their old show to the inimitable Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best” this morning. As current F&FF co-hosts Ainsley Earhardt and Heather Childers took the holidays off, it was an amusing start to the day after Christmas for F&FF fans.

As the reader may recall, F&FF (this iteration) debuted almost two years ago (March 5, 2012) with Ainsley and Anna Kooiman at the helm (vid) as nine other rotating co-anchors (i.e., Heather C., Heather Nauert, PAB, Juliet, Arthel Neville, Jamie Colby, Julie Banderas, Dave Briggs, and Clayton Morris) stood at the ready for their shifts. However, on its one-year anniversary, Ainsley signaled that the F&FF co-hosts had been pared to four: She, the two Heathers, and PAB had survived the cut. Approximately, six months later, FNC whittled the number down to two, namely, Ainsley and Heather Childers: TV Newser rather charitably reported that FNC had chosen the two as the “permanent anchors” of F&FF.

But, today, Juliet and PAB had their revenge at Ainsley and Heather Childers’ expense as producers, wittingly or not, committed a lese-majeste, declaring the fresh Jersey girl and Red Eye‘s “notorious PAB” “simply the best [better than all the rest].” Of course, Ainz and Heather C. are scheduled to return to rule their roost soon. And, if the sages are right, she who laughs last laughs best.

F&FF: Ringing in the New Year with feline fireworks? If so, it should be fun! Rowrr!

Stormy Maria: Inked Pink!

December 21, 2013

Molina reveals her secret “tart tatt”–nine months late. For Carpe Diem fans of the Fox News weather gal Maria Molina, a/k/a “Cosmo’s caliente Latina,” the revelation was a long time coming. Over nine months ago, the author noted the barbed pink/red ringlet adorning Maria, Tweeting her, “[I]s that a red “barb” tattoo or a beauty mark on your left wrist?” Not a word from the Nicaraguan nymph: Perhaps, the demure beauty thought that FNC was a tatt-free zone and she did not want to be dispatched posthaste like her comely “spanked and spurned” predecessor Domenica Davis.

Nevertheless, Monday, F&F newsreader Heather Nauert outed the demure damsel on F&F‘s After the Show Show. During the episode entitled, “Hidden talents,” with Maria, Heather, and co-hosts, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Steve Doocy, on the curvy couch,  Heather abruptly turned to Maria, teasing, “Give me your hand here! Give me your hand! What is that on your wrist?”*

Embarrassed, Maria initially pulled her arm away from Heather: Then, complying, she gave her hand to Heather. Subsequently, Heather (and Elisabeth) turned Maria’s arm for all of her F&F fans to see the reddish pink symbol inked on her wrist. Interjecting, Steve intoned, “Wait! Wait!…Oh, look at that: it’s a stamp!”

Chiming in, Heather added, “It looks like she was at a little club.”

Chagrined, Maria admitted, “It’s a tattoo.” Shyly, she subsequently explained, “It’s actually a tropical storm.” Then, she added, “It’s supposed to be Hurricane Andrew. And, that’s the reason I became a meteorologist.”

Sounds good–at least, to the parents. But, for ardent acolytes of the smoldering Maria Molina, her explanation seems almost too convenient. For those votaries of a tropical stormy Maria, her symbol looks almost a little like the inchoate etchings of Pamela Anderson’s racy barbed wire.

To quote Eminem, “Maybe, that’s what happens when a tornado meets a volcano.” Maria, “love the way you lie.” Or, not.

F&FW’s Juliet Huddy: Mika in the Mirror?

December 18, 2013

Vanity, vanity, all is vanity! Former Fox & Friends Weekend anchor Juliet Huddy returned to the curvy couch this past weekend looking as if she were ready to retake her throne. With notably no mention of F&FW‘s new co-host “for nowAnna Koiman, Juliet welcomed her fans back to a four-hour session as the mistress du jour of the house. Taking a page out of Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski’s sexy feature in Vanity Fair, a freshly shorn, plump-lipped Juliet sported a sassy new do that actually mirrored Mika’s short puffy blond coif (i.e., swept to the left side of her face) and swathed herself in a similar sexy sleeveless, short dress tailor-made for a saucy table dance.

“New and improved”: Juliet Huddy 4.0. Trying to pull off a second F&FW run? Juliet, it ain’t easy being Aly!

[Author’s aside: Juliet flashed her connubial bling anew this past weekend: Apparently, her fortunes have recently improved.]

Zoraida’s Tearful Adios: “A Very Difficult Decision”

December 16, 2013

“You put the good in ‘good morning’: It just doesn’t work as well in ‘goodbye.'” The CNN dawn darkened decidedly Friday when Early Start star Zoraida Sambolin bid adieu to her early morning show Friday.

In the final third of ES, Zoraida’s co-anchor John Berman declared, “I am wearing black today because it is Zoraida Sambolin’s last day on Early Start.* [Vid via J$P.] Placing a bracelet made by his sons on her wrist, John jested, “When I heard that you chose your fiance, your family, your hometown, and sleep over me, I, I was a little offended: And, I’ve been trying to understand it but it’s hard. I put together a little piece.”

Subsequently, as producers ran a montage of Zoraida’s clips, John intoned, “The thing about Zoraida Sambolin, when she says ‘Good morning,’ she means it….She doesn’t just want your morning to be good, she makes it happen.” Felicitously, he continued, “It’s that smile, that laugh, that sparkle….More than anything, it’s the sincerity.” Aptly, he added, “Know this, we will miss you tons. Yes, you put the good in good morning: It just doesn’t work as well in goodbye.”

With tears streaming down her cheeks, Zoraida responded, “That is so sweet….This was a very difficult decision for me: I did it primarily for my kids.” To John, she sweetly declared, “You are the best human being I have ever sat next to in my entire life….Seriously, I just cannot think of a more thoughtful, caring, cynical, loving–just a genuinely good human being: And, I thank you for just being you.”

And, Zoraida, thank you for being you!

Early Start – 12/13/13 (@ 5:43 a.m. ET)

[Author’s aside: Zoraida was the best person to grace CNN’s early morning since Kiran Chetry (erstwhile American Morning co-host). Both dared to expose their real selves to their viewers–to defy the sterile corporate culture with a genuine sine qua non that was their own. They are both missed!]

New “Miss New Year’s Eve”: Elisabeth Hasselbeck

December 16, 2013

Out with the old: in with the new? New Fox & Friends co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck shakes things up again as she replaces long-time co-host Megyn Kelly of FNC’s All American New Year. Announcing the news today (as the final hour of F&F began), co-anchor Steve Doocy exclaimed, “Ladies and gentlemen, Miss New Year’s Eve is sitting right next to us right here!” Meanwhile, a full-screen banner blared, “All American New Year w/ Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Bill Hemmer“: Chiming in, co-host Brian Kilmeade queried, “Are you excited? You’re going to be hosting with Bill Hemmer!” Taking it all in stride, the leggy lovely demurely responded, “I’m just going to be Bill Hemmer’s sidekick bringing in the New Year with everybody. We are thrilled! 11 p.m. December 31st, New Year’s Eve.”

[Author’s aside: Poor Bill Hemmer! First, Megyn left him on America’s Newsroom to host her own show daytime show America Live. Now, the eponymous host of FNC’s new prime-time hit The Kelly File has abandoned him yet again. With FNC’s brand new blond beauty by his side to start the new year, maybe, just maybe, Bill can bounce back.]

F&FW Rehabs Its Mixologist–Finally

December 7, 2013

Almost two months late, Clayton Morris’ “master mixologist” gets it right: Alcohol and Tylenol don’t mix. Today, Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Clayton Morris brought back his fave NYC bartender/mixologist, Pamela Wiznitzer, for a return visit to apparently correct the record on hangover cures and rehabilitate her reputation with FNC viewers: Approximately, two months ago, in a similar F&FW segment (10/13/13), Wiznitzer risibly remarked, “I’m gonna tell you one thing: Aspirin is not what you should be taking if you’re drinking….But, ibuprofen and Tylenol are very safe!”

Subsequently, Carpe Diem responded with a scathing article entitled, “F&FW Med Malpractice? Tylenol Hangover Cure!” In reply, Witnitzer conceded “the dangers of using Tylenol as a hangover cure.” Unfortunately, F&FF and its co-hosts, including Clayton [and Anna Kooiman (Tucker Carlson absent)], did not follow suit and failed to alert their misinformed audience to those very dangers posthaste.

Today, Wiznitzer returned with more holiday hangover cures and this time she got it right (in her interview segment with Clayton, Anna, and Tucker).

Hinting at the issue of alcohol and Tylenol that she and Clayton had flubbed a few months ago, Anna asked, “And, some medications to stay away from: You say, ‘Advil may be good but aspirin may be bad?'”* Correcting her previous assurance, Wiznitzer answered, “Yeah, no aspirin, no Tylenol….”

Clarifying the matter all the more for the audience, Tucker interposed, “So, Tylenol can actually be dangerous when mixed with alcohol?” Nodding her head, Wiznitzer acknowledged, “Tylenol can be dangerous. There are studies that lead to the fact that it can have issues with your kidney.” Grimacing, she added, “Severe issues!”

Better late than never? Yes, but, Fox & Friends Weekend viewers deserve the truth in a timely fashion. When a guest screws up and gets the facts wrong, especially, if it affects the health and the very lives of its audience, F&FF producers and its anchors need to bite the bullet and correct the record then and there–not two months later.

On the bright side, at least, F&FW–and its mixologist–finally did get it right.

Zoraida: Adios Already?

December 7, 2013

Friday the 13th! Sadly, Early Start co-host Zoraida Sambolin is leaving her post next Friday, December 13, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The caliente senorita bids her acolytes adios less than two years after making her debut as an original co-host on the then new Early Start with Ashleigh Banfield. And, now, the lovely Latina leaves a “vacancy” in her now current co-anchor John Berman‘s “Red Room.”

All levity aside, Zoraida will leave a real void in the early dawn on CNN. Initially, the sweet, soft-spoken, and genuine ES co-host stood in stark contrast with her more acerbic, boisterous, and pretentious Cannuck counterpart, co-anchor Ashleigh. When Ashleigh left the early morning show for a later hour on CNN, Zoraida teamed with John to present their ES viewers with a fun, friendly, and, oft risque take on the news–almost a la Fox & Friends.

Now, Early Start fans will be bereft of their beloved beauty in less than a week. Apparently, Zucker has struck again. You’ll be missed, Zoraida!

F&FF Fail: Mandela Mourner?!

December 6, 2013

Bizarre: Bronx train engineer “wrecked” with grief over the death of Mandela? Fox & Friends First producers made a flagrant faux pas or exercised incredibly bad judgment this morning. After Ainsley Earhardt introduced a segment on the passing of Nelson Mandela, reading, “This morning the world reacting to the news of Mandela’s death,” producers strangely ran an apparently cropped pic of the pained NYC train engineer (who reportedly drove his ill-fated Metro-North passengers off the rail in the Bronx, killing four and injuring 63):* Underneath the photo, the chyron blared, “South Africa’s “Greatest Son”: World Mourns Nelson Mandela.”** Yikes!

When the Mandela segment concluded, Ainsley and her co-host Heather Childers said not a word about the striking F&FF fail. Perhaps, they did not notice. Or, more likely, they felt too embarrassed to say a word.

But, someone should: So, Carpe Diem does.

Victoria’s Secret Bra: F&F Falsie!

December 5, 2013

“Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Mon. at 10 pm.” Not! Fox & Friends producers let their standards slip this morning when they gave Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show a free promo: They may have given their F&F fans a titillating tease with a personal appearance by Victoria’s Secret angel Candice Swanepoel and her $10 million dollar bra and highlights of the show–but they also gave them the wrong day!

When F&F co-host Brian Kilmeade introduced the segment with Swanepoel, viewers were treated to footage of the angels sashaying down the catwalk in scant attire and, subsequently, by a lingering look at the vaunted Victoria’s Secret $10,000,000 bra.* Simultaneously, a chyron proclaimed (for almost a full 30 seconds), “The Sexiest Night on TV! Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, Mon. at 10PM.” Oops: Actually, the V.S. Fashion Show is Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET.

Subsequently, Swanepoel and Brian did mention that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show would air December 10th. However, neither noted the producers’ error and alerted the F&F audience that December 10th will be next Tuesday, not next Monday. Unfortunately, co-hosts Steve Doocy and Elisabeth Hasselbeck missed it, too.

Victoria’s Secret bra: nice. Fox & Friends falsie: naughty.

Aly & Bill: “In the Closet”?

December 4, 2013

Camerota seems ready to get out of it with Ms. “Money.” For three days straight,  America’s News HQ co-hosts Alisyn Camerota and Bill Hemmer have appeared in their “new studio,” an apparent homage to a bourgeois master bedchamber closet. Instead of heralding from their usual capacious, plush high-tech studio with multiple sets, they are doing so from a small Spartan one that simply features two chairs and a desk. To make matters worse, poor Aly and Bill seem so crowded in their new quarters that they can barely read their papers without the camera itself physically intruding into their personal space.

In her first show in her new digs Monday, Aly appeared to inadvertently disclose that she was less than thrilled with the change. Before interviewing Money (FBN) anchor Melissa Francis who appeared on screen (from the FBN studio), Aly chuckled, “We’re in a new studio! And, you’re still money!”* Laughing, ANHQ co-host Bill Hemmer concurred, “And, you’re still money, all the way from here.”

At least, Bill still has a nice studio on America’s Newsroom with Martha MacCallum. But, Aly does not: She has more than paid her dues on Fox News as her Fox & Friends Weekend fans will attest. It’s time for FNC to treat Aly with the respect that she has earned.

Huddy Gets Her Rock Back

December 2, 2013

For her doubting Plymouth Thomases, “Happy Turkey Day!” Fox & Friends Weekend fill-in co-host Juliet Huddy paid off her holiday debts to her pawn shop, seemingly. When Carpe Diem noted that she was not sporting her connubial band on F&FW the other weekend (and wondered whether the thrice-married blond beauty was on the market again), Juliet snarked that she had “hocked it for fried turkey.” Only four days later, on Thanksgiving Day, the “poor” pulchritudinous princess had her missing engagement ring back and she wanted her subjects to know it: Rocking her rock prominently in a close-up pic of her and her fiance Steve Wright embracing, she Tweeted, “Happy Turkey Day!”

Happy Turkey Day, Juliet! And, a happy belated Thanksgiving to you and Steve!
