Aly & John: Sitting in a Tree?

August 25, 2014

Camerota and Berman: a TV coupling in the making? With New Day co-hosts Kate Bouldan and Chris Cuomo away, Aly and John finally met up and did play–at least, a little this morn. And, apparently, they have all week to develop some real chemistry.

In the wee hours of today, Aly teased, “If only I knew @JohnBerman better. He seems like a great guy. Oh well.” Two hours later, she revealed that she would indeed, reTweeting, “@ChrisCuomo and @KateBouldan [sic] are off this week, so and are joining to hold down the fort! Waxing waggish as usual, John ejaculated, “I have a blind anchor-date with on . They say you never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression. I’m screwed.”

As if. CNN’s resident bad boy had to settle for some platonic love today. And, the sweetest thing Aly said to John this morn was “John, great to be with you” as the second hour of ND commenced.

But, tomorrow is a whole New Day!

Geraldo: “My Whole Life Changed”

August 17, 2014

“I became a dope smoker.” * Fox News anchor Geraldo Rivera revealed on Fox & Friends Friday that the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and Bob Dylan changed his life–for better or for worse. As the final hour of F&F commenced, the show opened anew on the plaza with the Beach Boys playing “Surfin’ U.S.A.” in their debut on the “All American Summer Concert Series.” Segueing to the curvy couch, guest co-host Clayton Morris intoned, “I think [that] this is the song that changed Geraldo’s life, Geraldo Rivera.”

Animatedly, Geraldo answered, “It did! It did! It was right from 1963.” Elaborating, as he animatedly moved to the music, Geraldo remarked, “I was at Maritime College in the Bronx, Fort Schuyler: I was going to  have a military career. That song came out: I said to my friend Frankie de Checko (sp?) out on Long Island, ‘Come on: we’re going.’ We got into the old Chevy; we hit Route 66; [and we] went to California. And, my whole life changed because of the Beach Boys.” Laughing, he added, “And, the rest is history!”

Chiming in, F&F co-host Brian Kilmeade jested, “And, if it was [sic] the Beatles, you would have moved to London?” Grinning puckishly and gesticulating amiably, Geraldo riposted, “The Beatles is why I got long hair: So, I was very easily impressible.” Ever the open book, he added, “And, then Dylan: I became a dope smoker!”

Ever FNC’s provocateur!

Anna K.: “In for Elisabeth”

August 7, 2014

The younger, fresher Gretchen? Today, Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Anna Kooiman once again filled in for the increasingly absent Elisabeth Hasselbeck on F&F. The North Carolina flirty fitness fiend [vid] is a delightful break from the overly earnest Lis who is quite keen on apprising her curvy couch mates Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade that they are like brothers to her and embracing every guest female as if they were sisters.

True or not, Lis seems like such a sweet gal that the author is rather loathe to diss F&F‘s latest leading lady: Nevertheless, he feels as if he should give the “cruel” critique. Rhode Island’s blond beauty got off to a good start with her fun athletic antics, competing for the eyeballs of America almost a la her Survivor persona in the first days of the show. But, lately, the ever clowning cutie seems to be trying to turn F&F into a coed The View.

In contrast, Anna offers a saucier, more vivacious view. If the F&F fan liked the older queen of the curvy couch, Gretchen Carlson, s/he probably likes Anna all the more. The gals are both blond, broad-faced, and somewhat thick-thighed beauties selected by Bill Shine: However, Anna seems less of the solipsist who appears ready to recite her curriculum vitae to her audience at each and every opportunity.

Stick around for a while on F&F, Anna: Ainsley can sub on the weekends. Or, Elisabeth, at least, play the coquette on occasion–even if you don’t mean it.

[Author’s aside: Title, supra, refers to Anna’s opening F&F line, i.e., “I’m Anna Kooiman in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck this morning.”]
