F&F: Ainsley Replaces Heather?

January 22, 2014

Elisabeth Hasselbeck: “I love seeing you in the morning.” Yesterday, Fox & Friends First co-host Ainsley Earhardt filled in for F&F newsreader Heather Nauert. Regrettably, only for the day.

And, seemingly, that is the sentiment that co-anchor Elisabeth Hasselbeck expressed mid-show Monday. Segueing to Ainsley to proclaim the headline news, Elizabeth exclaimed, “You know who looks good? Ainsley!”* Turning to Elizabeth with a big smile, Ainsley cooed, “Aww, you’re so sweet!” Feeling the love, Elisabeth aptly answered,  “I love seeing you in the morning!” Perhaps, presciently, Ainsley responded, “Thanks! I love being with you guys!”

Ainsley does fit in rather well with Elizabeth and the F&F boys. Even though she may not have that “alpha bitch” prerequisite a la Lis to co-host with Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade, the South Carolina belle does add her delightfully genteel manner–friendly, funny, and deferential to the “stars” of the show. Instead of the awkward ad hoc observations that Heather too oft makes, Ainsley facilitates a smooth transition from and back to the co-hosts.

For fans of the Chi-town chick (like White House press secretary Tony Snow who told her “God made you beautiful”), she is not bad to look at–at all. But, sometimes, the leggy blonde beauty is just a bit too perky and chirpy for the Fox & Friends dawn. Ironically, an hour earlier, paired with the other Heather (Heather Childers), she can be a delightful wake-up call.

F&FF: Wake up to Heather–in fact, both of them! F&F: But, greet the day with Ainsley and Lis!

Carol Alt: A Sexier You?

January 21, 2014

Not last weekend: but, maybe, later. FNC anchor Carol Alt brought her game when it came to the putative pros of hemp/marijuana, phat fats, and ab exercise. But, unfortunately, the supermodel hottie left her “glam quotient” on the catwalk on her eponymous show.

The long-tressed brunette beauty could be forgiven for her demure royal blue dress (during three of the four blocks) that seemed to have been tailor-sabotaged with a neckline an inch too high and sleeves and a hem correspondingly in tandem too low. However, the former Playboy cover girl looked as if she were filming from another land during her exercise segment: Clad in a clerical collar without the requisite white square, Carol tried to rock a charcoal top with sleeves that wrapped her wrists and cloaked her derriere–not to mention–the non-form-fitting black leggings that said not so subtly to just look away.

Easy Sexy Raw: This weekend Carol may have forgotten the sexy. But, she did make nutrition easy and raw. Two out of three ain’t too bad. At least, this time!

Elisabeth’s Superman Kiss

January 20, 2014

Lis’ lip lock with Clark Kent. Sorry, Carpe Diem readers, I saw Elisabeth Hasselbeck kissing Superman–on the Fox & Friends‘ set over a week ago (01/08/14): And, I said nothing. Mea culpa!

Mid-show, two Wednesdays ago, Elisabeth introduced the upcoming segment, saying, “And, you need to know, what this country…really needs, we need Superman, Dean Cain, flying in here next. And, he is talking politics.” Taking the cue, co-anchor Steve Doocy led Cain onto the set with both of them acting as if they were flying onto the set, with closed fists extended as if they were flying. When Cain espied Elisabeth, the two greeted each other with an amorous mouth-on-mouth kiss–followed by a buss from Cain on Elisabeth’s left cheek.*

After commercial break, Cain sat right next to Elisabeth (between her and Steve) as Steve and co-host Brian Kilmeade touted Cain’s new Spike TV new series, 10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty. After they did so, a grinning Cain remarked, “I, I have to admit: We’re sitting this way because I asked Steve if I could sit next to Elisabeth. I’ll be honest: I did!” Flattered, a smiling Elisabeth touched Cain on the shoulder tenderly and declared, “Aw, I’m honored to sit by you!”

Later, during the interview, Steve promo’d Cain’s new show anew, saying, “Alright, the reason you’re here officially is.”** Interjecting, Cain exclaimed, “Is to see Elisabeth!” Apparently, Cain was recalling the able lyrics of Hall & Oates who sensually sang, “Your kiss, your kiss is on my list…as the best things in life.”

Bill Hemmer: No F&FW Fan?

January 15, 2014

Oblivious Bill: Tucker, “where’s the bow, where’s the bow tie?” Fox & Friends Weekend gets no respect from FNC host Bill Hemmer. First, the eminently likeable “blow-dry anchorstole the queen of the curvy couch, three-time F&FW co-host Alisyn Camerota from her fans for good on October 1 of last year. Now, he almost acknowledges that he is no fan of the show–or, if he ever were, he has not seen it since Tucker Carlson took Dave Briggs‘ vacant seat.

During America’s Newsroom this morning, Bill interviewed Tucker and Alan Colmes: After introducing his erstwhile CNN colleague Tucker, he animatedly asked, “Where’s the bow? Where’s the bow tie?”* As Alan chuckled, Tucker grimaced, riposting, “Oh, it’s been about ten [years].” Smiling, an oblivious Bill continued, “New fashion sense!” Charitably, Tucker laughed, “I may bring it back!”

When Tucker began his stint on F&F over a year ago (before he officially took the job), he explained essentially why he had given up the bow tie. In a segment on America returning to more formal Fridays, Tucker, then co-anchor Aly, and co-host Clayton Morris discussed the bow tie. During the segment, Tucker remarked, “People despise you when you wear a bow tie…especially, the Big Apple.” Even though he ignored Aly when she asked him, “Is that why you gave up the bow?,” the answer seemed manifest.

Fox & Friends Weekend: The Rodney Dangerfield of FNC, Bill? At least, watch the show. Or, better yet, give Aly back!

F&F Oops: “I Didn’t Say Sh*t”

January 14, 2014

Rita Moreno: “When you talk to a[n] eighty-two-year-old woman…be ready for anything!” But, this morning, Fox & Friends censors were not! When the brassy Hollywood legend Rita Moreno appeared this morning, they got more than they bargained for.

After F&F co-anchor Elisabeth Hasselbeck introduced the storied Oscar/Emmy/Tony/Grammy winner in the penultimate segment this morning, the saucy Puerto Rican remarked, “This is three hours earlier for me because I just came in from California!” When F&F co-host Steve Doocy jested, “Are you starting by complaining?,” Moreno pluckily shot back, saying, “That’s not a complaint: That’s a statement of fact. Be quiet! And, don’t yell at me!”

Chastened, a grinning Steve responded, “I’m sorry! I’ll just sit back here quietly.”

Smiling, Moreno aptly admonished, “When you talk to a[n] eighty-two-year-old woman, you know, be ready for anything! We don’t take any caca from anybody!” When Steve impishly replied, “At what age does that start?” Moreno ribaldly riposted, “Notice I didn’t say sh*t!”

Raising his eyebrows at her un-bleeped expletive, a chagrined Steve answered, “No, I noticed.” As Elisabeth doubled over with laughter at Moreno’s unashamedly scatological humor, Steve jibed, “Rita, Rita, have you been on YouTube before?” Reddening, co-anchor Brian Kilmeade muttered, “Oh, my goodness!”

Laughing, Moreno pumped her fists in the air in triumph. Demurely, she deadpanned, “Well, there’s a starter for the morning.”

Indeed, it was.

Icy Christine: Zoraida’s “Replacement”?

January 9, 2014

John Berman: “Welcome to Early Start…the official new co-anchor.” Former ES co-host Zoraida Sambolin‘s successor was announced by ES co-anchor John Berman Tuesday. Less than a month ago, John bid his then tearful co-host Zoraida adieu, aptly saying, “She doesn’t just want your morning to be good, she makes it happen….It’s that smile, that laugh, that sparkly….More than anything, it’s the sincerity.” Tuesday, as ES started, he greeted Zoraida’s more frigid replacement, tersely saying, “Welcome to Early Start, by the way.” Pointing to her and looking into the camera, John added, “Christine Romans, the official new co-anchor of the Early Start broadcast.”

Smiling, Christine replied, “Oh, thank you! Thank you!” The frequent ES guest co-host jested, “It’s, it’s my first day so please be nice to me. Be gentle, be gentle!” Laughing, John riposted, “Yes, you’re right. Exactly! Right, you’re going to get hazed the whole broadcast!”

Subsequently, and, perhaps, ironically, as Christine began to introduce a story about the “extreme cold” affecting its American viewers, ES producers ran a full-screen banner, blaring, “DEEP FREEZE 2014!” Hopefully, it was not an ominous sign of things to come for fans of their early-morning show.

N.B. Erstwhile ES co-host Ashleigh Banfield‘s too oft icy “Mayor of the Morning” better heat things up–if she ever hopes to succeed as a worthy successor of caliente senorita Sambolin!*

Anna: F&F “More Blondelicious Than Usual”

January 1, 2014

Ainsley: “Clayton, sleep in! I’m glad you had so much bubbly last night.” Unexpected Fox & Friends guest co-host Ainsley Earhardt did not mind a bit stepping in this morning for the missing Clayton Morris. In fact, she relished the moment and so did the other New Year’s day edition Fox & Friends co-anchors, Jesse Watters and Anna Kooiman.

As the show opened, Anna, garbed in a teal form-fitting short dress, announced that she was subbing for Elisabeth Hasselback. When she turned to Jesse (in for Steve Doocy), he introduced himself and then laughed, “And, I think we’re missing Clayton: we have Ainsley here (in for Brian Kilmeade).” Having just finished co-hosting F&F First, festively attired in a sexy chartreuse, black-hemmed mini-skirt, Ainsley exclaimed, “Yep! I’m not complaining, though!”*

Looking into the camera as if addressing the absent co-anchor, grinning, she jauntily jested, “Clayton, sleep in! I’m glad you had so much bubbly last night.” To Anna and Jesse, she added, “They’re waiting on him to come in from New Jersey this morning.”

Gazing over at fellow flaxen-tressed beauty Ainsley, Anna announced, “The [curvy] couch [is] looking more blondelicious than usual!” Interjecting appreciatively, Jesse concurred, chuckling, “Yeah, the couch is a little better looking without Clayton.” Placing her hand on Anna’s shoulder, a smiling Ainsley smiling declared, “Jesse, you are a lucky man this morning!”

Putting his arms up in the air, Jesse aptly replied, “Hey! What can I say? It’s a great way to start the new year!”

And it was. F&F: More blondelicious than usual today. Anna and Ainsley: Still “Bringing Sexy Back!”

[Author’s aside: At the end of the segment, Ainsley, Anna, and Jesse looked outside to see Clayton Morris comically posing outside on the sidewalk (as if he were a drunken New Year’s Eve reveler trying to find his way home in the morning).*]
