“Miss” Early Start: Zoraida Sambolin Engaged

January 27, 2013

“On Christmas Eve.” Single gal Early Start co-host Zoraida Sambolin started off her new year with a Facebook relationship status update for her fans on January 2. Including a pic, she proudly proclaimed, “Yes, it is a ring on my finger. Kenny [Williams] and I were engaged on Christmas Eve.”

Later that day, CBS Chicago reported Sambolin’s announcement and elaborated that her fiance was Kenny Williams, the new EVP of the Chicago White Sox. Nine days later (January 11), Chicago Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed reported Kenny’s account of the engagement–albeit buried under his main story (emblazoned “Exclusive: Sheriff to search Chicago apartment complex where John Wayne Gacy’s mother lived”). Subsequently, when one observant reader and Zoraida Tweep noticed the news and apprised Zoraida thereof, Zoraida Tweeted, “Thank you, the article was a surprise to me as well. Kenny sent a link this morning, he is a gem.”

Apparently, “that loving feeling” is mutual. Sneed reported that Williams gushed that he was “about as happy as I’ve ever been as an adult.” According to Sneed, Williams intoned, “Yes, we just got engaged and I am in a really good place.” Reportedly, Williams was so enamored with Zoraida that he asked her for her hand in marriage–twice: apparently, once prematurely in his office because he just “couldn’t wait” and later at the “much more romantic forum” of the Holy Name Cathedral [Chicago] at midnight Mass where Zoraida’s parent were wed.

Congratulations, Zoraida and Kenny!

[Author’s aside: Mea culpa, Zoraida fans, for the delay: Holidays and hunting guests had distracted these eyes.]

Dave’s Dance: Off-Screen

October 10, 2010

Aly: “Dancing on the sofa.” Fox & Friends Weekend co-anchor Dave Briggs pulled a “Tom Cruise” (atop Oprah’s sofa) today: however, unfortunately, F&FW producers failed to deliver it to their audience. Happily, at least, co-host Alisyn Camerota disclosed the off-screen incident to her F&FW fans.

After a headlines news story (read by Aly) featuring a clip of the Blue Brothers dancing to the now deceased Solomon Burke‘s “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love, Aly revealed, “And, I’m chuckling because Dave is dancing on the sofa to the Blues Brothers’ song.”* Co-anchor Clayton Morris remarked, “How can you not? “Soul Man” [sic]. Still in the mood and mimicking a hep cat’s voice, an animated Dave declared, “It’s the Blues Brothers, baby!”

Immediately thereafter segueing to meteorologist Rick Reichmuth’s weather report, Clayton commented, “Let’s check in with Rick Reichmuth who’s still laughing because he thought that that Soyuz capsule [another headlines news story] was Greg Gutfeld up there in space.” Holding his cellphone up, Rick replied, “No, I actually was laughing at Dave. And, I was trying to take a picture from my standpoint of Dave.” “Not happening!,” interjected Dave. When Rick concluded (after being interrupted), “As he was dancing there during Alisyn’s [segment],” Dave explained, “That’s ’cause I wasn’t on camera.”

In response, Rick aptly noted, “We should have like a constant feed ’cause Dave’s constantly dancing or something while Aly’s doing the headlines.” Or, perchance, producers could simply instruct their camerapersons to catch those priceless moments to share them with the fans? At the very least, a YouTube clip might be in order.

Graceful Gretch

April 3, 2008

Fox & Friends is known for its edgy, sexy, and irreverent take on the news. One example is its comely co-hosts with short skirts, lovely legs, and saucy attitudes. Past and present examples are Juliet Huddy, Kiran Chetry, Alisyn Camerota, Page Hopkins, and Ainsley Earhardt.

Since current weekday F&F co-host, Gretchen Carlson, tends to struggle with her weight, by her own admission, she seems to keep the testosterone level on go with her extra short skirts and her decolletage-accenting blouses. As a result this morning, Gretchen gave her viewers an inadvertent eyeful during the penultimate segment.

As faithful fans of F&F know, Brian Kilmeade not only walks out on a regular basis but he has begun lately to embrace the Tom Cruise approach to couches. At the end of the Lenny Dykstra (former MLB star) segment, Brian challenged Lenny to a fight and jumped on the sofa. As a result, Gretchen repositioned herself and briefly flashed her viewers. However, she recovered gracefully with a well-positioned hand. She wasn’t Miss America for nothing!
