Bill Hemmer: No F&FW Fan?

January 15, 2014

Oblivious Bill: Tucker, “where’s the bow, where’s the bow tie?” Fox & Friends Weekend gets no respect from FNC host Bill Hemmer. First, the eminently likeable “blow-dry anchorstole the queen of the curvy couch, three-time F&FW co-host Alisyn Camerota from her fans for good on October 1 of last year. Now, he almost acknowledges that he is no fan of the show–or, if he ever were, he has not seen it since Tucker Carlson took Dave Briggs‘ vacant seat.

During America’s Newsroom this morning, Bill interviewed Tucker and Alan Colmes: After introducing his erstwhile CNN colleague Tucker, he animatedly asked, “Where’s the bow? Where’s the bow tie?”* As Alan chuckled, Tucker grimaced, riposting, “Oh, it’s been about ten [years].” Smiling, an oblivious Bill continued, “New fashion sense!” Charitably, Tucker laughed, “I may bring it back!”

When Tucker began his stint on F&F over a year ago (before he officially took the job), he explained essentially why he had given up the bow tie. In a segment on America returning to more formal Fridays, Tucker, then co-anchor Aly, and co-host Clayton Morris discussed the bow tie. During the segment, Tucker remarked, “People despise you when you wear a bow tie…especially, the Big Apple.” Even though he ignored Aly when she asked him, “Is that why you gave up the bow?,” the answer seemed manifest.

Fox & Friends Weekend: The Rodney Dangerfield of FNC, Bill? At least, watch the show. Or, better yet, give Aly back!

Clayton Morris: “NY’s Funniest Reporter”?

September 29, 2012

F&FW’s “Rodney Dangerfield”: Really can’t believe I won.  Fox & Friends Weekend co-anchor  Clayton Morris was crowned “New York’s Funniest Reporter”at the Comedy Strip Live Comedy Club on last Thursday night (September 27). bested his FOX fellows, Dr. Manny Alvarez (FNC) and Greg Kelly (Fox 5) and the foxy femmes, Lauren Lyster (RRTV), Michele Steele (ESPN); and Marianne Garvey (In Touch Weekly). After winning the laurel and proudly hoisting his trophy, Clayton Tweeted, “Really can’t believe I won.” Critiquing his routine, he joked, “I was like Rodney Dangerfield up there.*

Apparently, Clayton’s needed “pre-show cocktail” at Toloache 82 was just what the doctor ordered. Congratulations, Clayton!

Update: In the After the Show Show Saturday, Clayton discussed his comedic approach with Dave and Aly. According to a review by the New York Comedy World, Clayton “did his homework and really came off as a stand-up.”

O’Reilly: F&F “Cartoon Show”

December 3, 2010

Fox & Friends: Fox News’ Rodney Dangerfield? Two years ago, FNC’s Executive Veep of News Editorial John Moody called the number one cable morning news show “an entertainment show that does some news.” Last night, Fox News ratings king and O’Reilly Factor host Bill O’Reilly went one step further and laughed that it was a “cartoon show.”*

During the O’Reilly Factor “News Quiz” segment with Fox & Friends co-anchor Steve Doocy and American Morning co-host Martha MacCallum, O’Reilly asked the name of “The Simpsons” newscaster. When Doocy accurately answered, “Kent Brockman,” O’Reilly chuckled, “I figured you’d watch a cartoon show, Doocy.” Then in a jest to the audience, he sniped, “He does one: he watches one.”

“Hey, hey, hey!” protested Steve. Coming to her morning colleague’s support, Martha cocked her head and arched her eyebrows at O’Reilly, exclaiming, “Ooooh!” Putting his tongue literally in his cheek, O’Reilly replied, “Alright. Cheap shot. I’m sorry!”

Friendly fire?
