Five features for the Dancing with the Stars finalist! In one of the strangest American Morning shows yet, co-host Kiran Chetry and CNN correspondent Carol Costello elevated Bristol Palin, former governor Sarah Palin‘s daughter, almost to the status of America’s Princess. On a day when AM celebrated Great Britain’s Prince William and his fiancee Kate Middleton extensively, it likewise covered America’s Tea Party Princess Bristol Palin albeit with more caustic commentary.
On this surreal American Morning, Bristol appeared thrice in “Morning Talkers” (Kiran/John Roberts’ confab) as to her PSA with the Jersey Shore‘s Situation in an abstinence/safe-sex spot and twice in “Gut Check” (Carol’s report) as to her advancement to the final on ABC’s DWTS. However, this American Morning princess was not well received by either Kiran or Carol.
In the “Morning Talkers” segments, Kiran appeared loaded for bear, or the Mama Grizzly’s cub, at least. In the very first one, Kiran laughed that the single mom’s paean to abstinence was “jaw-dropping” and “painful to watch…(that’s why I wanted to bring it to you guys).”* In the next one, Kiran noted, that Bristol’s words were “cringe inducing” immediately before joyfully announcing that Michael Vick, convicted felon and animal abuser–incidentally, the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, her husband Chris Knowles’ favorite team–appeared possibly headed for redemption as the NFL’s MVP this year.** Then, in the third and final one, Kiran scoffed at Bristol, saying, “Some fine acting….I think that people should practice what they preach about that.”***
[After Kiran made that acerbic remark about Bristol, co-anchor John Roberts told Kiran that her microphone was off. In reply Kiran replied, “Maybe, my mike was off for a reason: I couldn’t put my foot in my mouth.” Unfortunately for Kiran, she could: her audience was still able to hear her.]
In Carol’s “Gut Check” story (which aired twice),**** Bristol fared no better. When John segued to Carol’s report, he declared, “While the judges may not exactly love her moves, the television audience keeps pushing Palin through, leaving some people to wonder if, maybe, we’re witnessing a vast conservative conspiracy.” Leaving little doubt as to where she stood, Carol replied, “If Bristol Palin’s presence on Dancing with the Stars proves anything, it proves just how partisan we’ve become as a nation.” Darkly, she added, “I’m sure you’ve heard this: some believe the only reason Bristol Palin remains on Dancing with the Stars is because of the Tea Party/Republican conspiracy.”
AM‘s Bristol Palin: no common, ordinary girl.

Fox & Friends Weekend falls short again: what a wager waste! Dave Briggs returned, and the fans were spurned. The Fox & Friends Weekend co-anchor paid up his lost bet with a plug nickel and, not surprisingly, his hapless co-host Clayton Morris happily accepted it.
As the reader may recall, Clayton announced that the loser of the Philadelphia Phillies/Colorado Rockies wager would wear the opposing team’s uniform for the entire show and serve up the winner’s hometown delicacies. After the Rockies lost and Dave subsequently returned, the author cautioned Dave not to “welch” on his bet the way he had accused Kilmeade of doing. Dave Tweeted, “[Y]es @Jakeho I will pay up on the bet, Sunday & it will hurt.”
Today instead of biting the bullet and putting on his full Phillies regalia from the get-go, Dave waited until the very last minute of the show (9:59 a.m. ET) and served up Philadelphia cheesesteaks in simply a Phillies baseball cap and jersey. The more jaded Fox & Friends viewer probably expected this half-hearted and partially fulfilled promise to the fans. After all, Clayton had let Brian Kilmeade and Gretchen Carlson out of their lost Philadelphia Eagles/New York Giants wager after tantalizing the F&F audience for weeks with a similarly humbling outcome.
Fooled me once, shame on you, Clayton. Fooled me twice, shame on me! Lesson learned. What was that again, Clayton? Wolf?

Fox & Friends co-anchor Brian Kilmeade inadvertently provided a new slogan for the show today: F&F: Home of the Birds and Weas(el). In an interview with Governor Ed Rendell, the Massapequa native continued to try to weasel out of his and fellow co-host Gretchen Carlson’s lost Giants/ Eagles wager with F&F Weekend co-anchor Clayton Morris. (Brian and Gretchen agreed to wear Eagle jerseys and sing the Eagle war anthem if the Eagles won). Brian shamelessly stated, “Governor Rendell gave me a special governor’s exemption: we no longer have to fulfill out bet with the Philadelphia Eagles fight song.”
Gretchen chimed, “I wanted to do that.” That was news to F&F fans since Gretch “double downed” with Brian to get out of her lost Vikings/Eagles bet. Nevertheless, at the end of the segment, Gretch said, “Governor Ed Rendell, thanks for taking Brian out of the Eagles thing: I still might have to do the fight song.”
Perhaps, Gretch would prefer to be a red fox rather than a red squirrel.
*Steve Doocy went to the University of Kansas (Jayhawks); Gretchen Carlson went to Stanford University (Cardinal); and Brian Kilmeade went “Welch.”

Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade is a welcher according to his F&F Weekend colleague Dave Briggs. He would get little argument from Gretchen Carlson, F&F co-host, who often accuses Brian of not paying off his wagers, except she is the beneficiary of Brian’s shenanigans today. After an interview with PA Gov Ed Rendell in a segue to the F&FW co-hosts, Brian got Rendell to sign an “executive memorandum” absolving Brian and Gretch of their bet debt to F&FW co-host Clayton Morris. (Over three weeks ago, Brian and Gretch promised to sing the Eagle war anthem while wearing Eagle jerseys if their Giants lost to the Eagles.)
As the segment concluded, Clayton commented, “I’m throwing in the terrible towel, governor. I knew Brian was up to something.” Then Dave aptly added, “This is why you can never make a bet with Kilmeade: He’s going to find a way to welch no matter what the bet.”
Later as the show ended, Clayton told Brian that there were many Twitterists responding to ” you squirreling your way out of the Eagles fight song cheer.” Echoing them, he asked, “How in the world does an executive order from Governor Rendell of Pennsylania impact two residents of New York City, you and Gretchen.” Brian facetiously responded, “It’s too complicated to get into at this short notice but it really stands: We can’t do anything about it.”
Once again, Brian, “shut up and sing.”

Apparently, Fox & Friends co-anchors Brian Kilmeade and Gretchen Carlson will finally fulfill their lost wager with F&F Weekend co-host Clayton Morris. As a segment with NY Giants running back Brandon Jacobs concluded today, Brian said, “Brandon, … because of your surprising loss to the Eagles, Gretchen and myself [sic] have to sing the Eagle fight song. Clayton interjected, “You guys have been squirreling your way out of this bet and viewers demand a response: It’s been three weeks now….I think next week pre-Pro Bowl you and Gretchen in Eagles jerseys are going to have to sing this song.” Bowing his head and smiling sheepishly, Brian responded, “Right, right.”
Finally, Clayton calls in his chips: Hopefully, no more squirreling or weaseling for Brian and Gretch.

When are Fox & Friends co-anchor Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade going to finally pay up on their lost football playoff bet with Clayton? Has Gretchen joined Brian in the vice of which she regularly indicts Brian, i.e., weaseling out of wagers?
Gretchen bet F&F Weekend co-host Clayton Morris that her beloved Minnesota Vikings would slay his hometown Philadelphia Eagles: If she lost, she promised to don an Eagle jersey and sing the Eagle war anthem. When they did, Brian Kilmeade bailed her out with an Eagles/Giants double-down bet in which he would join Gretch in doing the same. The Eagles beat the Giants over two weeks ago, and Gretchen and Brian still haven’t paid the proverbial piper.
The Super Bowl is this Sunday. So, to quote Laura Ingraham, Gretch, Brian, shut up and sing!

Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Clayton Morris (and F&F fans) is still waiting for F&F co-anchors Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade to pay up on their bet. After yesterday indicating that they would don Philadelphia Eagles’ jerseys and sing the Eagles war anthem today, neither did. Nor did either mention their failure to do so.
Are they merely waiting for Clayton’s next appearance? Oddly, he did not promo his F&FW show today as he usually does.
Gretch, Brian, it’s time to step up to the plate!

Since the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New York Giants yesterday, Fox & Friends co-hosts Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade lost their “double or nothing” wager to F&F Weekend co-anchor Clayton Morris. Before Brian read the headlines story, Gretchen, conceding defeat, remarked, “Brian, you and I shouldn’t have watched the game yesterday ’cause we have to pay up on our bet now.” Brian deadpanned, “Yeah. Clayton Morris evidently thinks the Eagles are good.” Gretchen graciously answered, “They are right now.”
No, Gretch and Brian did not don Philadelphia Eagles jerseys nor sing the Eagles war song today. If they indeed follow through, they will probably do so this Friday since Clayton normally promos on Fridays. A little crow for breakfast!

Fox & Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson seems to weasling out of her bet with F&F Weekend co-anchor Clayton Morris.* After a Consumer Electronics Show segment with Clayton showcasing the latest gadgets this morning, Gretch asked, “Hey, Clayton: ‘member that bet that we had?” Clayton replied, “Yeah, I remember.”
Gretchen continued, “Well, Brian may be willing to take a mulligan for me so we’re going to reveal that when you join us later on in the show.” Clayton cagily cracked, “Wait a second: that sounds like a scam to me.” Then F&F co-host Brian Kilmeade intoned, “Maybe, the Giants can do what the Vikings couldn’t and that’s beat your Eagles: Maybe, it’s time to factor me into this.”
When Clayton returned, nothing more was said about the wager between Gretchen and Clayton. More than likely, Gretch will not be wearing the Eagles’ jersey tomorrow nor singing their war anthem. As Elvis, today’s birthday boy, might say, “A little less conversation, a little more action, please.”**

Unfortunately, for Fox & Friends viewers’ sheer entertainment value, F&F Weekend co-host Clayton Morris won his football bet with F&F co-anchor Gretchen Carlson. Since the Philadelphia Eagles, Clayton’s hometown pick, beat the Minnesota Vikings, Gretch’s home state team, Clayton will be spared having to wear a tutu while reenacting his F&F Christmas charades version of “The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fair.” However, Gretch will have to don an Eagle jersey and sing the Eagle war song.
According to Clayton, this Friday is the day of reckoning for Gretch.
