Fox News Specialists? Not!

Unless “Specialists” is an FNC euphemism for “not so special” Five. On the positive side, it was Fox News Specialists co-hosts Eric Bolling, Eboni Williams, and Katherine Timpf‘s virgin show so they and the producers may have a honeymoon to work out the kinks with viewers who are accustomed to a livelier, sexier, and, quite frankly, much sharper The Five (which, thankfully, will air at 9:00 p.m. tonight to redeem its replacement).

The first thing that caught the author’s eye was the pretentious new solid circular desk that seemed to be designed to suggest a certain Sunday morning news gravitas with the co-anchors safely ensconced behind it: No much needed “leg chair” there today to spice up the show a la The Five at the five o’clock hour! As to the their heralded “specialists” guests, billionaire and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Showtime’s “The Circus” co-producer and co-host Mark McKinnon, they were not bad, and they provided their usual political perspectives: But, one can see them as guests oft on almost any FNC show of note.

There were no scintillating debates as one would expect on The Five or even on Outnumbered: Sadly, it felt like merely time filler for this FNC viewer. Hopefully, the show was not a harbinger of what is to come for the inaptly named Fox News Specialists or the network itself as it seems to be transmogrifying from Rupert Murdoch’s juggernaut FNC to his sons James and Lachlan’s “gentler and kinder” Fox News.

“The Fox News Specialists” needs to up its game as does Fox News or its rumored future more conservative rival may do what CNN and MSNBC have not been able to do thus far, i.e., take it down a notch or two.

As the show concluded, McKinnon said, “Five o’clock will never be the same again.” The author fears that he might just be right.

Hated it.I`ve never been a fan of Eric Bolling. For the life of me I don`t understand how this guy keeps landing such prominent on air positions, he stumbles over every other word,he`s awful.

[…] Q&A: Eboni Williams.   Hogue: Fox News Specialists felt like filler. […]

FOX filled the spot too soon. Kat Timpf whines. I just don’t see the point of having 3 hosts. Eric could have done it by himself. FOX is becoming quite repetitive. I will be watching selected Sean Hannity segments. I think FOX BIZ is now the one to watch.

Normally, I catch Fox and Friends in the morning. I haven’t seen the early morning show on the Fox Business Channel, but I do like Cheryl Casone, Sandra Smith, and Lauren Simonetti. I have heard that Lea Gabrielle has been doing some work on the early morning show on FBC – I was hoping that since Heather Nauert got a promotion (she got a job in the state department) Lea might have been a choice to be the news reader on Fox and Friends.

Frankly, I don’t watch evenings very often anymore, unless it’s Tucker Carlson’s show. Tucker isn’t afraid to pull any punches, and he asks good questions that others are too shy to ask.

I haven’t seen Martha McCallum’s show (mostly because I am still at work), but it was announced on Fox and Friends that Martha’s show was going to become permanent. That said, I don’t know which reporter will take her place in the morning. Shannon Bream has filled in for Martha almost full time, but I think Shannon wants to stay in DC and cover the Supreme Court, particularly since she understands the workings of the Court. Maybe Shannon will be able to return to DC and another New York based anchor will get Martha McCallum’s old job.

Re AM:FBN, David, Nicole Petallides is definitely a reason to tune in, too. She and Lauren are a fab duo of smart, sexy, leggy lovelies! Lea Gabrielle always does a great job subbing for Nicole or Lauren or filling in news reading for Heather or Abby. As to Tucker, he has abandoned his smug, pompous, bow-tied persona, happily: He is one of the best, if not the best, interviewer on FNC. Re Martha MacCallum’s “The Story,” one could tell she was going to get her own show when FNC gave her the temporary “100 Days”: As to Shannon, I think that she’ll be quite happy to be Bill’s co-host.

I thoroughly enjoyed coming home from work to turn on The Five @ 5:00 while preparing dinner. Our dinner discussions often revolved around the program. Sometimes I could even listen to it in the car if I was running late. This “Specialist” program is second rate. Most nights I’m in bed by 9:30 or asleep in the recliner @ 9 pm. The Five will be up against our regularly watched programs (if we can stay awake) Very disappointed that the time has been changed. This spells DISASTER for Fox. Please put The Five back on @ 5:00.

great issues altogether, you just received a new reader. What could you recommend about your submit that you simply made some days ago? Any positive?

I’m amazed, I must say. Seldom do I come across a blog that’s both equally educative and amusing, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. The problem is something which not enough men and women are speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy that I came across this in my search for something relating to this.

Can’t stand to watch this show anymore. Kay Timpf has to go!! I will not watch this show anymore as lone as she is on this program.

To Eric Bolling and his producers:

I’m a big fan of Eric Bolling I absolutely love him, however I think the women are a bad choice for this show. They are obnoxious and seem to have no filters. They constantly interrupt and talk over Eric and the guests almost as if it they were taking their last breaths and have to get it all out. Either they get schooled in discipline or may have to be replaced, they lend no continuity to the show and make it a train wreck. It seems there is no one host or moderator, and there in lies the problem. There must be one person leading the charge, please either change the format and give Eric the lead or it will continue to be a train wreck.

  12. Rose Says:

I too am a big fan of Eric Bolling, however, I have a hard time listening to Katherine Timpf. I don’t want to sound mean, however, I can’t listen to her. Her voice is just plain irritating. She talks over Eric when he is speaking plus, she gives him looks as though her point of view is right and he must be schooled by her. I confess, I’m truly sorry that The Five is no longer on at 5pm. I no longer get to watch The Five because, I very seldom watch tv at night. Eboni Williams appears to be a good fit with Eric but Katherine is definitely not a good fit for this new show. I only watch a few minutes of this show now because, as I said, I just can’t tolerate hearing Katherine. I’m getting to the point that I don’t want to watch this show at all, and I will be sad not to see Eric anymore. Please put Eric and the entire The Five group back together again at 5pm.
