And takes a sly shot at Aly? Friday, Fox & Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson bid her co-hosts Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy adieu as she left the number one cable news morning program for her own soon to-be-announced afternoon show. In the penultimate segment of Gretchen’s final show, producers played a moving melange of some of her most memorable moments on F&F [vid(s) via J$P]: When the clips concluded, Gretchen thanked almost everyone (her co-anchors Brian and Steve, FNC meteorologist Maria Molina, hair-and-makeup, crew, producers, and even her alarm clocks)–but oddly she forgot about her fans or her successor Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
As to her fans, perhaps, Gretchen felt thanking them–seemingly at the cue of the teleprompter–at the start of the first and final hour of F&F for watching her for seven years seemed somewhat sufficient. However, Gretchen’s failure to even mention Elisabeth during the three hours appeared strange at best: Instead of acknowledging Elisabeth as the next queen of the curvy couch, Gretchen stayed focused on her own past on F&F; her future afternoon program on FNC; and her silver anniversary as Miss America. Perhaps, the most salient example of Gretchen’s omission occurred at the beginning of the second hour of F&F when Steve explained that the reason for all of the retrospection was that Friday was Gretchen’s last day and that Elisabeth would take over Monday: Instead of gracefully giving her seal of approval to Elisabeth, Gretchen simply smiled, nodded, and then pursed her lips.
As to the “sly shot at Aly” allusion, Gretchen opened the show, saying, “Today’s my last day….And, we’re gonna be looking at some things that…happened over the last seven years.” Raising her finger for emphasis, she smilingly added, “I do want to say however… that it’s somewhat of a good thing that I never once overslept….Three alarms set every night and somehow I always made it here.” As F&F fans may well remember, Gretchen’s premier fill-in co-host and fan fave Alisyn Camerota overslept this past summer and appeared approximately a half hour late for the show (and was sorely teased by Steve and Brian thereafter).
F&F interregnum weekend: Gretch is gone and Elisabeth is coming. May they both find success. And, hail to F&F‘s fair royal Aly who, at least, still rules F&F Weekend.

Seems lately that Gretchen has become all about Gretchen. All her Tweets are about her and her alone.

Gretchen may have never been late because when she over slept she just called out sick because everyone knows she was always off more than she worked.

I wish she had overslept every day. The show will be so much better with her gone. It has always been all about her. I never liked her manner and presentation. Overbearing, rude, self serving and always had to have the last and the most words.
Sorry, I am thrilled that she is finally gone.
Welcome aboard Elizabeth. You can learn a lot from Carlson about how NOT to host a show.

My old ritual is over…have it on Fox News, if Gretch is there, I turn to another morning news show. Won’t have to do that anymore!!

When Ainsley finished her report from the Jersey shore fire, she wished Gretchen well and Gretchen said of Ainsley: “She’s a class act.”

Gretchen is clearly poised to take over Megyn`s old timeslot and I for one am not happy about it.I really don`t know what Ailes is thinking, there are at least half a dozen better qualified and more likeable anchors than her, Shannon Bream and Alisyn Camerota are just two of them.Gretchen has always been pretty high on herself and getting her own shoe will no doubt inflate her ego even more.

she kept talking about her 25 year anniversary of being Miss America, too. The show is already better.

Hmm.It may take me some time to get used to Elizabeth Hasselbeck, I`m trying not to judge her too quickly, although I did think she was a little hyper on her first day.

With Fetchin’ Gretchen it ‘s ALL about her, she is the queen bee and the diva. She was THE star of F&F, the bookends were merely props for her amusement. Her “I’m a hot MILF” tude and gratuitous leg shots have maker her a cult LEGend who is worshiped like a goddess on leg fetish sites all over the net and earned her the nick name “Her Royal Thighness” . There are web sites & blogs that promote her and many other leggy Fox women.
Liz Hasselbeck is the prototype Fox fembot, a leggy conservative
blonde who will tow the Fox company line.

Gretchen will be as successful in her new show as E.D. Hill was in hers. Six to eight months, tops.

Yep, I`d be surprised if her contract was for more than a year, Ailes probably just wants to get rid of her in a nice way..

I liked Gretchen and miss her.

Sorry, I like(d) Gretchen. Not so sure the slights are really slights.

The first few day that Hasselback was on, the show was awfully silly. I don’t really enjoy the races, riding skateboards, etc. Seems like a waste of time. I hope they get back to their regular format. So far she seems a little young, a little cutesy. I hope they get a good rhythm going and a little more serious talk.

Why are Brian and Steve so rude to Elizabeth? First she is snubbed by Gretchen then almost daily ignored by especially Brian. I am ready to stop watching.

I don’t see that Elisabeth is snubbed by Brian and Steve .No . not snubbed at all. They have been very accepting of her .

I miss Gretchen. I think she was great. She always had something intelligent to say and knew how to handle any situation. Compared to Gretchen, Elizabeth is a bit of a letdown.

Elizabeth will never be able to keep up with the other women on Fox News, she may be a nice person but certainly not qualified,it drives me nuts when she shakes her head up and down when someone else is talking she doesn’t have a clue half the time what anyone is talking about. She doesn’t do her homework, she is just to immiture and young, and really not very pretty at all.
