Kiran in Paradise

August 2, 2009

In a very sweet Tweet yesterday as she vacationed in the paradise of Negril, Jamaica, American Morning’s co-anchor Kiran Chetry sent her love to AM’s viewers and a wonderful compliment to Carpe Diem’s author. After the author sent her a Tweet including Carpe Diem’s “Kiran Kisses Fans Goodbye,”* she wrote, “I really do enjoy your news analysis. You have incredible attention to detail and subtlety. And yes I truly love fans of our show.”**

As I said earlier, your fans love you, too, Kiran. And, thanks again, for your very kind words. Even though you may not be quite ready to leave paradise, we eagerly look forward to your return.

Tune in Tuesday, AM acolytes. Maybe, Kiran will bring her iReport of her fun in the sun in Negril.

Ringless Dave Romances Brandi

August 2, 2009

Fox & Friends Weekend Dave Briggs sometimes seems like the stereotypical clueless jock.* E.g., of all the times not to forget to wear his wedding ring, it would be today, his sixth anniversary. Especially, after having to be reminded of the special event by his wife Brandi this morning. Nevertheless, the author should probably give Dave a break.

The sports guy appeared genuinely smitten with his honey Brandi in an F&FW phone call toward the end of the show. After he lovingly said, “Happy anniversary, Sweetheart,” she wished him the same and added, “Six good years.” Subsequently, Dave rhetorically queried, “Can you believe someone has put up with me that long? I’m astounded.”

Co-host Alisyn Camerota riantly responded, “No.” Of Dave’s wife, Aly asked, “Brandi, how much alcohol do you drink every day?” Brandi jested, “Quite a bit!”

Then, expressing admiration for his wife, Dave revealed, “I get up at 3 a.m. every morning, and Brandi actually thought of it first thing. And, I’m like wandering through the hall…rubbing sleep out of my eyes and she thought of it. And, that just shows you the kind of amazing wife I have.”

When Aly asked, “So what do have planned for Brandi tonight?,” Dave could not seem to remember the Broadway show on the agenda tonight (“Jersey Boys” according to Brandi). However, he did have a romantic night planned: In addition to the show, he had reserved a “little hotel room” for tonight and got his mom, the “perfect all-night babysitter,” to take care of daughter Emerson and son William.

Co-anchor Clayton Morris racily queried, “And another bun in the oven, right?” Taken aback, Brandi responded, “I hope not.” Dave chuckled in absolute agreement.

Have fun tonight, you two. And, Dave, wear your ring!

Carpe Diem: “Princess” Dave’s Pea?

August 2, 2009

Is Carpe Diem not letting Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Dave Briggs rest easy? Apparently, not. After Carpe Diem held Dave’s feet to the fire for ignoring his Twitter followers for almost three weeks, Dave tried to explain in a story on Sarah Palin’s mysterious Facebook and Twitter silence.* [Earlier in segment on the same topic, co-anchor Clayton Morris had jested, “Speaking of Twitter, I’m Clayton Morris on Twitter. Go there and let me know [viewer’s opinion): I’ll respond whereas Dave won’t.”]

As Dave commiserated with Palin’s plight, he said, “I happily let go of the social networking: I’m kind of a weekend Twitterer.” When co-anchor Alisyn Camerota teased, “But your legion of fans are not clamoring  for you to get back on Twitter,” Dave answered, “In fact, I was getting grief for not responding on Twitter recently…so I got back in the game.”* [Seemingly, he was responding directly to Carpe Diem “Dave Clams Up” and the author’s Tweet which had implored Dave to do just that, i.e., “Get back in the game!”]**

As an aside, Dave seems to be still smarting from Carpe Diem’s coverage of his Jay Leno moment of infamy where he alleged checked out the derrieres of Ainsley Earhardt and Janice Dean.*** After copious prior Tweets to the author, Dave’s has yet to respond to the author’s Tweets since May 31, 2009, when he defended himself in a three-part Tweet, infra.**** In a seemingly intentional slight with a rather humorous hue, the apparently still peeved self-proclaimed “Princess” pointedly thanked every single Twitter follower (save one, i.e., the author) for their anniversary best wishes.*****

Dave, the author is glad that you’re “back in the game.” As to any bruised ego, as the F&F producers joke, “Walk it off!” The author has no animus toward you, and, hopefully, you’ll harbor none toward him either. Once again, happy anniversary to you and Brandi!

*F&F (08/02/09) – 8:39 a.m. ET

****It read, “I think the weekday embarrassed me enough for one week. I would actually like to point out what I WAS looking at and it wasn’t #%+. [S]eriously it wasn’t food but my producer at that very moment was telling me ‘get in the shot’ and I was looking for an opening. I know that sounds like BS but I would admit looking at a beautiful woman if in fact I was! Leno is funny, how he caught [sic] is bizarre.”
