With Kiran Chetry at the helm Monday, American Morning beat Fox & Friends in the key 25-54 demographic of viewers by a margin of 10,000 viewers (212,000 to 202,000). However, Kiran took Tuesday off and so did many of her loyal fans. In fact, AM lost almost half of the viewers (25-54), a whopping 101,000 of them. Apparently, some of them migrated to Fox & Friends (co-hosted by Alisyn Camerota): F&F increased its share of this key demographic by approximately 12%.
Kiran is back this morning. Are her many fans? AM executive producer, Janelle Rodriguez, no doubt hopes so.

Looks like a temporary glitch. Come Thursday and Friday with Kiran back I doubt if anything than the usual will come about.

Well, it looks like things are back to the status quo at AM, even with Kiran at the helm. Thursday’s numbers-
Morning programs (6:00AM-9:00AM) P2+ (25-54)
FOX & Friends – 887,000 viewers (218,000)
American Morning- 386,000 viewers (124,000)
Morning Joe- 235,000 viewers (53,000)
Squawk Box- 209,000 viewers (46,000)
Morning Express w/ Meade- 340,000 viewers (173,000)
By the way, Kiran and the entertainment reporter on AM were talking about Brangelina’s baby pictures, the money paid for them and how big photo exclusives like this are used to further the career of the celebrity, getting them more exposure and boosting their earning power. Kiran made comments about this type of thing being “out of control”. Um, didn’t she have a photo exclusive with OK! Mag, and don’t you imagine that she and CNN were hoping that this would garner Kiran and AM some higher ratings? I wonder if Kiran thought that in her case it was “out of control”. She really should have disclosed that she had done this as well, just to be fair about it. I just think the whole baby photo frenzy is in bad taste, no matter who does it.

Well Kep, when you’re right you’re right. I agree with every sentence you wrote.
BTW, what’s with Robin Meade’s numbers? Could that be an error that was switched with Morning Joe? Sometimes these ratings appear to be so far out of whack that I just don’t trust them.

It’s almost as if viewers switch back and forth, watching Morning Joe one day and then maybe AM or Morning Express with Meade the next. Fox & Friends is the most consistent of all of the shows. Since they are the only one with the conservative slant, they are the only place to go for a lot of people. However, the liberal slant is available on most of the others, so maybe the more liberal viewers switch around more.
