Should Ainsley Earhardt stay on as news reader at Fox & Friends Weekend when Alisyn Camerota takes over as co-host? Yes, Aly is slated to take over the headline reader position, too. However, Ainsley’s would add another attractive female to an otherwise all-male crew. She’s definitely proved that she’s up to that task with her ample appearances in that role on Fox News’ evening programs. Even though her new position might be seen as a demotion, she seems to have alot of grace and humility and should be able to take it in stride.
Since Ainsley is now the F&FW co-host, it would be easier to move to the weekday Fox & Friends for her pride’s sake. However, she would probably make a more suitable news reader on F&FW, since her sweet earnestness would be seasoned with Aly’s saucy sassiness. What do you think?
Out of the box query: Should Clayton Morris or Dave Briggs be a news reader instead with Ainsley in the F&FW co-host chair? (Remember Aly last co-hosted F&FW with American Morning’s Kiran Chetry in a two girls/guy setup.)

Other than Shep and Hemmer, Fox’s guys stink
Why not have Alisyn, Ainsley and Patti Ann Browne as the F&FW crew?
That should make everybody happy :)

An interesting idea, Sparty.
But would Ainsley go for it? Or would she take this as if Fox was “throwing a bone” in her direction?
She does a good job on her field reports for “Hannity’s America” and Fox has made it clear that she does’t fit in their hosting / anchor plans.
Field reporters have a longer life span at Fox. {Anita Vogel, Claudia Cowan, Carol McKinnley come to mind.}
Something for Ainsley to ponder.

How about Page Hopkins and Ali? I could even take Dave Briggs as the middle man, but NOT Clayton.
July 20, 2008 at 5:25 pm
Um, Sparty. I’m not sure how to tell you this, but Ainsley was bounced from the show because she was doing an inadequate job. That’s not usually the path to being the co-host on this show.
She’s very good at headline reading and I hear that she does well with her little bits for Hannity’s show. But she stinks as a host or anchor, where one is expected to ad lib and have an in-depth knowledge of various current events topics.

So- I’m not fond of sports guy Dave. He yells all the time. Will be nice to see the dynamics with Aly thrown in the mix. She will certainly be able to “speak” on talking points and keep the ball rolling! I wonder how long Aly is “scheduled ” for the weekend. Ainsely gets to sleep in on the weekends- and is most likely looking forward to that.

Why not put ladies to do all the jobs…Ally, Paige, Kimberly, patty and and Uma…I know that Ally and Paige are very competitive.. and Kimberly, Patty Ann and Uma could do the weather, sports, and do the news while the other beautiful ladies could sit on the couch and do what Steve, Brian and Gretch do but better and everyone would love it. The men would watch to see the ladies and the women would watch because the three on the couch are all professional and some men would think they couldn’t do it but surprise…they will blow their competition away. I dream BIGG.
Clayton and Dave need to go…they have nothing that makes yo want to tune in and watch them…at all. They remind me of someone that escaped the funny farm and boy they need to go back.

Jake – Are you nuts ??
We don’t want Painsley anywhere near F&F or F&FF or F&FW … She’s horrible … Just like her “bosom” buddy Courtney … They need to go to MSNBC or CNN … Maybe they could co-host a show with Nancy Grace … LOL Ainsley = saccharin (people thought it was good, but it gave lab rats cancer) …
Clayton needs to go too … He’s a liberal trying to masquerade his true identity on a conservative news network … But, he blows his cover everytime he opens his mouth …
I think Briggs might be salvageable … IF he’s trained properly … It’s possible that the sound level of his ear piece is out of whack and that’s why he seems to yell at times … Or he’s just unaware of his voice level … But, he’s got to stop going to Clayton for haircare advice as he’s starting to look like he’s got the same oil slick on top of his head that Clayton does …
I think a good F&FW show would consist of Page, PAB & Julie Banderas … with Aly replacing Gretch on the weekday shows … Or have Rick on F&FW as the token male co-host …

I don’t think Fox would ever do an all Ladies show- except for fill ins. I think they would then have a whole can of worms to deal with. They have to at least try to be balanced. I’m anxious to see how this weekend goes with Aly in the center on the curvy couch!!
July 21, 2008 at 4:25 pm
I think Alisyn should take over for Gretchen! She has a better personality than the Ice Queen Gretchen Carlson!
July 21, 2008 at 7:57 pm
All of the “on air talent” has a makeup and hair artist- cutting hair and putting product on it- as well as applying the makeup that of course they all wear-including the guys. THey tell them what colors to wear and not wear. Anyway the hair thing for the guys- you need to talk to the “artists” whose job it is to get them camera ready. The girls also have a ton of hairspray which they hate- but its part of the deal!! I also heard Rush Limbaugh reference the weekend show last week did anyone hear what he said-? He was finished before I knew what he was talking about.
July 22, 2008 at 3:46 am
Actually, at least for the weekday F&F crew … The wardrobe is picked out for them and left in their respective offices … Same with other on-air studio people … I presume the weekenders get the same “service” …
But, whoever is picking out the ties for the guys … is NOT checking to see IF the ties are camera-friendly … Many times, they’ll do a wideshot or a close-up and the ties are playing tricks with the camera’s eyes …
But, the weekend hair person needs to dump the “product” that they’re using … because the oil slick look is NOT flattering … I’m surprised Greenpeace or some other activist group hasn’t tried to shut them down …

I think Fox office politics are at work
Gretchen gets a new contract days after Alisyn and Ainsley get demoted
Coincidence? I think not
There has to be a reason Gretchen keeps acing out more beautiful and talented women (Kiran, Alisyn, Ainsley)
Remember, when E.D. left, the job was supposed to go to Kiran or Alisyn
Now, Gretchen’s competition has been eliminated and she doesn’t have a heir apparent
I agree with tiamat
I think Casey Close has a LOT to do with this
I don’t care what the charts or ratings say
People DO NOT tune in to F&F to see Gretchen Carlson
BTW, if Fox wanted to dump people who are inadequate they would have dropped Dumb and Dumber instead of Ainsley
Ainsley is a scapegoat because Fox has so many talented women and very few talented men, yet it insists on the two men/one women format
July 22, 2008 at 7:18 am
I don’t think Ainsley is all that proficient as a news reader. I don’t think
Clayton and Dave are proficient at anything.
Ainsley is nice looking, the other two are not.
I think Fox is just doing all this for summer fun. They certainly cannot be stupid enough to think that Saturday crowd is a pleasure to viewers. I like Patty Ann and Uma, but they’re the other side of the two we have now. They’re just too dull. And just seem to blend. They are not noticeable at all.
July 22, 2008 at 7:22 am
Motownman, you make a very valid point. Gretch’s replacement of E.D. vis-a-vis Kiran or Aly is inexplicable. As to Ainsley, she has much potential but she needs to be much more assertive with regard to her male co-hosts.

July 22, 2008 at 8:04 am
I agree, Jake
That was the problem with the F&FW crew
Fox did not put Ainsley in a position to succeed
I’m no fan of Kilmeade and Doofus, but I think she needs a veteran presence around her
That’s why I suggested an Alisyn-Ainlsey-PAB combination
July 22, 2008 at 8:24 am
Oh, Sparty. What are we going to do with you? I feel bad for you (sort of) and want to like you (sort of), but you make it so difficult.
Did it ever occur to you that Gretchen’s contract was up for review/renewal right around this time?
Like it or not, there are many, many people who find Gretchen to be both beautiful and talented – and it shows in the ratings, which have rebounded to at least (if not better) than before E.D. tanked.
Like it or not, the reality is that ratings for F&F First (with Aly) went down in a year-to-year comparison, and in the same timeframe, F&F (with Gretchen) went up.
Kiran hasn’t done anything positive for ratings at CNN, and if I remember correctly, the #s for her show actually went UP when she was out on maternity leave.
Nobody (with any clout or insider info) EVER said that the job was supposed to go to Aly or Kiran. Just because the RC shut-ins wish it to be so doesn’t make it so.
“I don’t care what the charts or ratings say” <– nice to see you admit the truth
On what are you basing your claim that people don’t turn in to watch Gretchen? A poll of the RC freaks?
Ainsley isn’t a scapegoat – she was given a shot and wasn’t good at it. She can read a teleprompter, but she doesn’t have the experience, knowledge, or ability to expand on that and function as an anchor, interviewer or host – skills that are necessary to do the job on F&F(W). Maybe in time she will, and maybe she won’t.
Like it or not, Sparty, the reality is that ratings for the weekend tanked further in the last few months (mid-Feb) and when the A-Team was brought in that Saturday after Tim Russert passed away, the #s for that morning shot up to almost weekday levels.
July 22, 2008 at 8:25 am
M. Davey, good points about PAB and Uma. They’re very smart and competent, but they don’t have the personalities for that type of show. I do think they should be anchoring hard news shows.
July 22, 2008 at 8:42 am
If you watch PAB on “Red Eye” … She’s actually quite the saucy little vixen …
But TPTB have toned her down for other shows …
I like PAB and think she’d do a fantastic job as a full-time co-host … She’s been great when she’s done the vaycay fill-in gigs …
Gretch’s secret is her HUBBY … He is the head of baseball at CAA … CAA is one of the two biggest & most powerful talent agencies in the US … Follow the bread crumbs and I would bet that a lot of the non-political guests on the show are repped by CAA …
July 26, 2008 at 11:10 am
What a refreshing time it has been for fox and friends week end with Ainsley..She was fresh, and seemed much more up to the job that her high pitched co-hearts…I am disappointed. I have watched Alyson fight with Gretchen for a long time…I will not be watching f@f for a while…
July 28, 2008 at 11:41 pm
Well, I’m very disappointed that Ainsley is not on F&F anymore; one less bright smile to wake up to :( I have already enjoyed her in other news spots and on Hannity. FOX, do not let her slip away!
As far as Clayton, Dave, Alisyn, Steve, Gretchen, and Brian go – they are all GREAT! They are a wonderful mix of on-line news entertainers. It’s great to have views from young parents, young w/o kids, sort of young with kids, etc. This is what makes the world go round. There needs to be an update on the FOX website so we can look at their bios and get to know them a bit more. It’s been difficult, with the summer schedule, to know where everyone belongs.
FOX, I hope you’ll give ALL of these guys and gals a chance to get comfortable working with each other. Whoever hired them did a great job.
Also, Rick is THE BEST! One question…Is Rick looking up at a monitor when they ask him how the weather is – or is he looking up to see how the weather is? His single life and boyish good looks with the cute dimples is a reat treat!
July 30, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Management at Fox News are incompetent and play gotcha just like the liberal news organizations. So much for free speech. They are stupid for dumping Ainsley Earhardt from Fox & Friends. She was the best anchor ever and brought glamour, enthusiasm & excitement to an otherwise dull show. It is once again boring and uninteresting and I will no longer watch it.
