Gretchen Carlson, Fox & Friends’ co-host, forced more grist for the blog mill on me. *As she teased a segment subtited “Survival & Sadness: Hero Gives Life to Make It Happen” on the death of Roger Stone (who helped four college students and a safety officer survive a capsized vessel), she tittered, “One man gave his life to make it happen: That story of sacrifice straight ahead.” She added, “Brian, don’t make me laugh.” Brian Kilmeade joshed, “Lookout for the dragon!”
Gretch and Brian both appeared to display an incredible lack of compassion. They should have apologized for their lack of sensitivity to the grieving family and friends of this young man who made the ultimate sacrifice for his fellow travelers. Such a story demands the requisite gravity not a malaprop levity.

I didn’t watch F&F this morning but I am surprised at Brian doing this…I am a big fan of his because he always seems so compassionate and caring. I am really disappointed in him for doing this…

Oh, I don’t think they meant any harm by that; Carlson and Kilmeade were just applying the lessons taught in the “Grin and Share It” school of journalism. NBC’s Lester Holt is one of the most prominent doyens of this particular style of broadcasting.
