Doocy: Elizabeth “Had Some Surgery”

October 15, 2014

“She’s going to be out for a couple of weeks.” Where has Elisabeth Hasselbeck been? Today, Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy revealed the reason for his co-anchor’s disappearance this morning. However, he was not fully forthcoming.

After welcoming The Five co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle to the center seat on the curvy couch, Steve disclosed the secret of Elisabeth’s absence to the F&F audience, saying, “In case, you were wondering where Elisabeth is today and this week, well, she had some surgery yesterday and she’s going to be out for a couple of weeks.”* Reassuringly, he added, “But, she’s doing just fine [and] she’s on the mend.”

Chiming in, F&F co-anchor Brian Kilmeade elaborated, “But, as you know if you watch the show, she is strong, she is tough, and a better athlete than me. We heard from her last night and she said she is feeling good: So, in a few, in a short time, she’ll be back on the set.”

Notably, neither Steve nor Brian revealed the nature of Elisabeth’s surgery. Perhaps, they both are waiting on Elisabeth herself to do so if, in fact, she decides to do so. Nevertheless, her fans doubtlessly wish the new queen of the F&F curvy couch a full recovery and a swift return.

Anna & Mark: “Couple”?

October 12, 2014

Kooiman: “What we talk about at our house…” Yesterday, Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Anna Kooiman appeared to confirm what many of her male fans have long suspected, i.e., that that Southern belle is not on the market no matter what her ring-less wedding finger might say. In an F&FW segment on “Things Couples Bicker About,” Anna revealing remarked, “What we talk about in our house is who…gets to take the dog out: You want the dog to like you better!”* [Italics added for emphasis.]

Almost nine months ago, Anna’s curious co-anchor aptly Tucker Carlson mused, “Who is this man?” In a F&FW story subtitled “Love & Technology” on a smart-phone app Couple (that allows one to keep tabs on his/her significant other), guest Kurt Knutsson a/k/a “The Cyber Guy” inaptly revealed, “Anna, you just told me something very interesting…[that]…you go out with a guy who wants you to use this app called Couple.”** Throwing up her hands and blushing at his breach of her privacy, Anna chuckled, “Oh, now you could just say that!” Amused and bemused, Kurt responded, “Oh, you’re not talking about this [on air].” As the segment ended, co-host Clayton Morris declared, “And, we’ll get to the bottom of Anna’s….”: Chiming in, Tucker concurred, “In our next segment, who is this man?”

Apparently, yesterday, Tucker had his answer as to Anna’s man. During a segment subtitled, “Wedded Bliss? The Top Issues Couples Argue About,” Anna revealing admitted, “What we talk about at our house…it’s, like, who…gets to take the dog out: You want the dog to like you better!” [Italics added for emphasis.] Subsequently, she read a viewer email about “leaving make-up all over the bathroom vanity”: raising her hand, Anna confessed, “Guilty!” Facetiously, Tucker snarked, “Time for counseling: Interjecting himself into the fun, Clayton commented, “That Mark’s wearing make-up: that’s what’s weird.” Howling in laughter, Anna jested, “He [inaudible] wearing make-up for the moment!”

Make-up for Mark, maybe: But, Anna appeared ready to go au natural for her fans yesterday. Dare to bare, Anna!

[Author's aside: After an F&FW segment today (entitled "To Have and to Hold: Maine Couple Wins Wife-Carrying Championship"), Clayton, innocently or not, intoned, "See, Anna, this is what you have to look forward when you get married." N.B. "When." F&FW - 10/12/14 (@ 6:32 a.m. ET).]

Heather: Happening Now Happily

September 22, 2014

Tony Snow: “God made you beautiful: Now you’ve got to make yourself smart.” Quirky Fox & Friends newsreader Heather Nauert seems to have found a more fitting slot of late on FNC as guest co-host of Happening Now.  Paired with HN regular co-anchor Jon Scott oft now that Jenna Lee is on maternity leave, the “Chicago” chirper excels in her new chair as a sharp counterpart to FNC’s whilom Shakespearean actor/go-to aviation “expert” Jon: Consequently, fans of F&F are treated to a more mellifluous Carolinian cadence in the early morn as F&F First co-hosts Heather Childers and Ainsley Earhardt often fill in for Heather N. as headline news anchor.

F&F fans can now enjoy their show more as the Southern belle beauties ameliorate their Yankee (Rhode Island) colleague Elisabeth Hasselbeck‘s too oft nasal sounds with their delightful drawl. To boot, the viewers are not subjected to a pedantic Ms. Romper Room Nauert who too oft wants to “tell you about this” before she actually does.

Yes, the “younger sister of another Heather (Locklear)” is beautiful, and she is smart. But, she can be pedantic and irritating a la erstwhile F&F anchor Gretchen Carlson when she talks down to her audience who generally know as much or more than she does. Like the former Miss America [vid] with her new show (The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson), Heather now seems to be more relaxed and at ease on HN–not feeling as if she has to prove her smarts to her audience vis-a-vis the boys, F&F co-anchors Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy.

Heather Happening Now: beautiful, smart–and, finally, starting to chill.

F&F Fam Fun: “Sis” Lis Turns 1!

September 17, 2014

Has her bro Brian’s back. Sorry! Yesterday, Fox & Friends co-anchor Elisabeth Hasselbeck celebrated her first year anniversary on the cable news morning show juggernaut. The new queen of the curvy couch was feted by F&F producers with their fun take-off [vid] of MC Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This” vid and a even wetter redux of her fun physical hijinks initiation into the family [vid].*

As a proud new member of the family, Elisabeth had her co-host and “brother” Brian Kilmeade‘s back. In an interview with Joel Keller of Parade, she was asked, “When you talk for three hours a day, you may end up saying stuff that people might turn their eyebrows up at: this happened to Brian the other day with the Ray Rice elevator video, when he joked that the lesson is to take the stairs.” Instead of addressing Brian’s inane, insensitive jest directly, Elisabeth answered, “I was not there that day. I can say that Brian Kilmeade and [their fellow co-anchor] Steve Doocy are two of the most honorable men that I know….[T]hose two men are credible husbands, extraordinary fathers, and they are two of the greatest friends that I have been able to make.”

Sounding like Brian’s bumptious non-apology apology for his callous callow joke, Elisabeth continued, “I don’t want to get off track or distracted. I think it’s quite easy to do that in with Ray Rice, but to be very clear, the most offensive thing about anything that’s going on with Ray Rice is what occurred in that elevator [TMZ vid]]. Bottom line.”

Bottom line, Elizabeth, is that you are right as to “what occurred in that elevator” is “the most offensive thing about anything that’s going on with Ray Rice”: But, that does not excuse NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for his absurd initial two-week suspension of Rice for his apparent assault and battery of his then fiancee nor Brian for his callous quip re Rice’s fiancee.

As to F&F re Rice, unfortunately, Elton John was right: “Sorry seems to be the hardest word.”

[Author's aside: Elisabeth often likens Brian and Steve to brothers: In fact, as the show opened yesterday memorial Lis' first year, she cooed, "You guys treat me like a sister."]

*Fox & Friends (redux) – 09/16/14 (@ 8:52 a.m. ET).

Brian’s Non-Apology Apology

September 9, 2014

And Steve’s silence. Sounding more like a politician than a journalist, Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade tried to do damage control this morning and he had his talking points down pat: To wit, whatever he and his co-anchor Steve Doocy may have joked about yesterday as to Ravens’ Ray Rice’s alleged elevator assault on his then fiancee (TMZ vid), they take domestic violence seriously. Very seriously.

Smartly tackling the matter at the very start of the show, Steve introduced the video of Rice seemingly cold-cocking his now wife in a casino elevator and questioned why the NFL had not asked the casino for a copy of the video. Instead of giving NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell a veritable pass as usual for giving Rice an asinine, flaccid two-week suspension, Brian iterated the question as to why the NFL did not ask the casino for a copy of the video and said that TMZ had indicated that NFL knew about the video in question.

As the segment ended, Brian tried to put an end to the controversy engendered by his and Steve’s flippant jests as to the message of the Rice video, respectively, to “take the stairs” and to remember that “when you’re in an elevator, there’s a camera.” Looking down at his papers, Brian intoned, “Comments that we made during this story yesterday made some feel like we were taking this situation too lightly. We are not: we were not. Domestic abuse is a very serious issue to us I can assure you.”*

And, that was that. No apology from Brian, saying, “I made an unthinking, tasteless jest about the Ray Rice video yesterday, and I’m sorry.” And, unfortunately, no mea culpa from Steve either.

Brian may have game: But, he did not show it today. Nor did Steve. But, tomorrow is a whole new day–hopefully.

Kilmeade & Doocy Fails: Ravens’ Rice Jests

September 8, 2014

Anna Kooiman: “This is so shocking!” Today, Fox & Friends co-hosts Brian Kilmeade and Steve Doocy both committed major fails this morning in ill-conceived jests as to domestic abuse. After a segment on now erstwhile Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice‘s apparent elevator assault on his then fiancee (vid via TMZ), Brian joked, “I think the message is [to] ‘take the stairs.'”* As Anna chuckled uncomfortably, Steve rejoined, “The message is when you’re in an elevator, there’s a camera.”

Today, normally surefooted Brian and Steve weighed into an area where any angel should fear to tread, i.e., domestic abuse and a cheap laugh. Obviously, assaulting a female is no joke and never should be treated as such. Unfortunately, Brian tried to add some levity after the horrific video and it fell fatefully flat: To make matters worse, Steve weighed in and was mired in the process.

For this longtime viewer of the show (dating back to when whilom F&F co-host E. D. Hill was E. D. Donahey), the aforementioned moment was definitely cringe-inducing. Even though the author assuredly does not believe that either Brian or Steve think that domestic abuse is a laughing matter, they should have known better this morning than to not let their condemnation of it be patently obvious and severe. Unfortunately, in the author’s view, Brian did not help matters by giving NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell virtual absolution for his bone-headed decision to give Ray Rice only a two-game suspension for his alleged assault–by commenting that Goodell had owned up to his “huge mistake” and had increased future penalties for domestic abuse to a six-game suspension for the first offense and a life-time ban for a second offense: Perchance, if Brian were not the FNC sports guy and former Fox News anchor Jane Skinner were not Goodell’s wife, Brian might have been less charitable in his assessment.

Happily, according to the Washington Post, “Fox & Friends will address [the] Ray Rice ‘stairs’ comments on Tuesday’s show.” And they should–because it is the right thing to do. And, for the cynical, if they do not, Fox News critics will use Brian and Steve’s ill-advised remarks to slam them and their network mercilessly henceforth.

[Author's aside: Re the subtitle, it is guest co-host Anna Kooiman's assessment of the alleged assault before Brian and Steve's errant extemporaneous utterances.]

Geraldo: “My Whole Life Changed”

August 17, 2014

“I became a dope smoker.” * Fox News anchor Geraldo Rivera revealed on Fox & Friends Friday that the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and Bob Dylan changed his life–for better or for worse. As the final hour of F&F commenced, the show opened anew on the plaza with the Beach Boys playing “Surfin’ U.S.A.” in their debut on the “All American Summer Concert Series.” Segueing to the curvy couch, guest co-host Clayton Morris intoned, “I think [that] this is the song that changed Geraldo’s life, Geraldo Rivera.”

Animatedly, Geraldo answered, “It did! It did! It was right from 1963.” Elaborating, as he animatedly moved to the music, Geraldo remarked, “I was at Maritime College in the Bronx, Fort Schuyler: I was going to  have a military career. That song came out: I said to my friend Frankie de Checko (sp?) out on Long Island, ‘Come on: we’re going.’ We got into the old Chevy; we hit Route 66; [and we] went to California. And, my whole life changed because of the Beach Boys.” Laughing, he added, “And, the rest is history!”

Chiming in, F&F co-host Brian Kilmeade jested, “And, if it was [sic] the Beatles, you would have moved to London?” Grinning puckishly and gesticulating amiably, Geraldo riposted, “The Beatles is why I got long hair: So, I was very easily impressible.” Ever the open book, he added, “And, then Dylan: I became a dope smoker!”

Ever FNC’s provocateur!

Anna K.: “In for Elisabeth”

August 7, 2014

The younger, fresher Gretchen? Today, Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Anna Kooiman once again filled in for the increasingly absent Elisabeth Hasselbeck on F&F. The North Carolina flirty fitness fiend [vid] is a delightful break from the overly earnest Lis who is quite keen on apprising her curvy couch mates Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade that they are like brothers to her and embracing every guest female as if they were sisters.

True or not, Lis seems like such a sweet gal that the author is rather loathe to diss F&F‘s latest leading lady: Nevertheless, he feels as if he should give the “cruel” critique. Rhode Island’s blond beauty got off to a good start with her fun athletic antics, competing for the eyeballs of America almost a la her Survivor persona in the first days of the show. But, lately, the ever clowning cutie seems to be trying to turn F&F into a coed The View.

In contrast, Anna offers a saucier, more vivacious view. If the F&F fan liked the older queen of the curvy couch, Gretchen Carlson, s/he probably likes Anna all the more. The gals are both blond, broad-faced, and somewhat thick-thighed beauties selected by Bill Shine: However, Anna seems less of the solipsist who appears ready to recite her curriculum vitae to her audience at each and every opportunity.

Stick around for a while on F&F, Anna: Ainsley can sub on the weekends. Or, Elisabeth, at least, play the coquette on occasion–even if you don’t mean it.

[Author's aside: Title, supra, refers to Anna's opening F&F line, i.e., "I'm Anna Kooiman in for Elisabeth Hasselbeck this morning."]

Aly’s Back: Back Again!

July 24, 2014

Aly on New Day: Fox & Fiends? Today, former Fox & Friends Weekend co-anchor Alisyn Camerota vied with her FNC usurper F&F co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck: The erstwhile queen of the F&FW curvy couch had a new perch, i.e., one of the New Day reflecting-table chairs. Unfortunately, Aly could not do battle with Elizabeth on quite equal footing: After all, it was ND, the latest version of the CNN morning show that seems not yet to fathom that the dawn is a time for edutainment (not a boring retro rendition of “straight news”).

Inviting a former “fiend” into the CNN camp as ND began, co-host Chris Cuomo introduced Aly, saying, “We welcome Alisyn Camerota, joining us. Thank you for being with us this morning.”

In response to Chris (and newsreader Michaela Pereira), Aly exclaimed, “My pleasure! Great to be with both of you!”

And, it was a pleasure for the ND audience as well. At last, Chris’s match was sitting next to him–no schoolgirl who was continuously vying for his attention and approbation: This Italian lady in red was more than ready for Mario Cuomo’s media scion. Even though she playfully wondered if she could “remember how to do” morning TV in a Tweet to her followers, she proved anew that she has the “A” game for morning news–even if Bill Shine inanely snubbed her for his team.

As the show ended, Aly clearly had won Chris over: Like a schoolboy, he was giving Aly googly eyes (and bumping her affectionately), declaring, “It’s great to have you here, by the way.” Smiling at her new admirer, Aly answered, “Thank you so much. Great to be here. I’m going to see you guys tomorrow!” As if playfully pulling her pigtails on the playground, Chris responded, “What! I have to talk to management!” Coquettishly, Aly purred, “Can’t scare me away, Cuomo!”

Guess who’s back: Back again!” Aly: at least, for tomorrow. And, hopefully, for a long time to come.

Aly Debuts on CNN Tonight!

July 19, 2014

Not the best fit: But, a good start. Last night, former Fox & Friends Weekend co-anchor Alisyn Camerota made her grand debut on CNN–on CNN Tonight. Giving her fans little notice, she Tweeted an early evening missive, saying, “Thanks for asking when I’ll be back on-the-air. The answer is…tonight. 10pm – midnight et.w/@donlemon on #CNN. Hope you’ll tune in.” Of course, this long-time fan of Aly did just that.

As the two-hour special began, co-anchor Don Lemon and Aly introduced themselves and the two stories of the night, the downing of the Malaysian airline in the Ukraine and the “Showdown in Gaza.” Then, Don turned to Aly, saying, “And, Alisyn, I want to welcome you to CNN. It is an honor to work with you tonight, and it’s good to have you here.” Smiling, Aly answered, “Thanks so much! I’m happy to be here on such an important story.”*

As always, Aly was on her game–prescient, incisive, and sure-footed. However, she and Don seemed as if they were feeling each other out. And, Don appeared not necessarily quite ready to accede to Aly her equal billing.

According to Politico
, Aly, Don, and New Day co-host Chris Cuomo have piloted a show called “The 10 o’clock Show”–perhaps, a play on FNC’s The Five. Last night, adventitiously or not, Chris appeared on CNN Tonight and Aly commended him on his “great reporting.” In the author’s opinion, Aly, Don, and Chris seem like an odd platonic melange a trois for a CNN evening whereas Aly, John Berman, and Kiran Chetry would make for a much more dynamic trio at the dawn of a “New Day.”

Aly to CNN! A la Kiran?

July 16, 2014

Fox’s finest foxes have left the building: But, the vixens did it different ways. Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Kiran Chetry was unceremoniously escorted out of the FNC den sans her personal belongings according to NYMag.com whereas whilom F&FW co-anchor Alisyn Camerota was given an “emotional @FoxNews send-off” with her belongings packed by her colleagues. Happily for their respective fans, they both subsequently found a home–at CNN.

As long-time Fox News viewers may well remember, Kiran was a rising star at FNC as co-host of both Fox & Friends Weekend (and Fox & Friends First) in 2006 and she was widely expected by her phalanx of fans to take over for E.D. Hill whenever she left her center seat on the curvy couch: However, FNC Senior VP of Programming Bill Shine dashed her and their hopes when he selected the rather awkward and too oft solipsist Gretchen Carlson for the position on September 22, 2006. Later, in early  2007, Kiran negotiated for a new contract with a high-powered agent who, according to FNC, wanted a term for Kiran to replace Gretchen by a certain date: Conversely, purportedly, she simply wanted a provision that she could escape her contract if she were not awarded that position by a certain date. Consequently, FNC cut off contract negotiations with Kiran in a royal row, and eager CNN’s Prez Jonathan Klein hired the prized journalist that day within an hour of learning of the “extraordinary circumstances.” (According to NYMag.com, a less impressed FNC had the Nepalese lovely escorted out of the building without her personal effects in her office and hubby FNC weatherman Chris Knowles had to “raid her office” to get them–before being “released from his Fox News contract” the very next day.)

Similarly, Kiran’s former FNC colleague, Aly, has been a shining star in the Fox News constellation, deftly doing double duty as the captain of Fox & Friends Weekend and ably subbing for Gretchen on the F&F “A-Team” at the drop of a hat during even the most momentous moments. When Gretchen renegotiated her contract and received her own show, viewers naturally assumed Aly would finally be coronated as F&F weekday queen. Using the same “wisdom” that inanely snubbed Kiran seven years earlier, Shine chose The View‘s discarded damsel Elisabeth Hasselbeck for the role over fan fave Aly: Shortly thereafter, he sent Aly “out to “pasture” with Bill Hemmer for a short while on America’s Newsroom and replaced her on F&FW with his new hire, Anna Kooiman. Subsequently, with Kiran’s purportedly ill-conceived forced exit in mind, FNC and Aly crafted a happier meme: Aly Tweeted a pic of her in her office with her files (with a sweet note that @lauraingle, @JennRiveraTV, and @rickreichmuth had helped her pack) and another of her in the hallway hugging one of many in a gauntlet of FNC colleagues. To any doubting Thomas,  she returned to the building to guest on Kilmeade and Friends, telling her fans, “I left on great terms. I love everybody here: I think the feeling is mutual. And, it’s fun to be back in the building.” But, not for long: On Monday, CNN Worldwide Prez Jeff Zucker announced that he had grabbed the “seasoned journalist with a great curiosity and passion for the news…[that]…has a presence on camera…[that]…is very hard to find.”

Who knows? Maybe, Aly and Kiran fans will be treated to a double espresso of the arousing Aphrodites in the morning. When one Twitter follower Tweeted, “You and @kiranchetrytv should team up again. You two were great,” Aly answered, “That would be a blast.”

Indeed, it would. Vintage Fox & Friends Weekend on CNN? Aly and Kiran: A real “New Day”!

[Author's aside: It may be no anomaly that Kiran (CNN's former American Morning co-host) made her return to the CNN morn Sunday on Reliable Sources as a guest journalist in a segment entitled "Women, TV News, and Attractiveness."]

Heather Nauert’s Fake I.D.

July 13, 2014

“And my parents never knew!” Last Thursday, seemingly straight-laced Fox & Friends news reader Heather Nauert let viewers in on a little secret–she has not always been such a good girl. During an F&F Throwback Thursday segment, Heather showed a facsimile of her first car, a white station wagon with faux wooden side panels.* Elaborating, she said, “This is the mighty wagon that was actually not my car: My friend found this mighty wagon in Illinois about a week ago [and] she took a picture and sent it to me.”

Grinning mischievously, she remarked, “The best story I have about this [is] one day we skipped school, a friend of mine and I did: We went to downtown Chicago to get fake I.D.’s.”

When F&F co-anchor Steve Doocy interjected, “How very Ferris Bueller!,” Heather replied, “Yeah, very Ferris Bueller! Coming back on the expressway, I jumped a median because I had missed my exit, got the car stuck on that median–this is during rush hour in Chicago, right–and so one of those big highway crews then comes by: It’s like this huge truck like the size of a, an ambulance or something and it pushes us off the median. We head home to Rockford, Illinois, and my parents never knew–until now!

Laughing, she exclaimed, “Sorry, Mom!”

As a epilogue, she added, “I think I was seventeen or eighteen….”

Good gal Heather Nauert: I can be bad–really!

Kiran Back–on CNN!

July 11, 2014

Comely Chetry: “Hope u watch!” This afternoon, former American Morning co-host Kiran Chetry proclaimed that she is back–Sunday on CNN Reliable Sources. After roaming two years in the desert, the Nepalese lovely has finally returned to her “Promised Land” of cable news. In missives to her Twitter followers and to her FB friends, she proclaimed, “Heading back to NYC after taping a segment w @brianstelter @CNN in DC for this week’s @CNNReliable. Hope u watch this Sunday 11AM est!”

The author shall indeed, Kiran. And, it is about time that you graced the airwaves anew! After arousing your acolytes for over a decade on both FNC (Fox & Friends First Fox & Friends Weekend) and CNN (American Morning) from the embrace of Morpheus, you’ll be a sight for sore eyes.

Welcome back, Kiran–and stick around for a while!

Cheryl Casone: Holiday Honey?

July 4, 2014

Lady in red lacking: But, four for Fourth! Today, blond beauty FBN anchor Cheryl Casone did double duty subbing for fellow towheads Ainsley Earhardt on Fox & Friends First and Martha MacCallum on America’s Newsroom. As Cheryl filled in ably for her vacationing FNC counterparts today, she seemed to think that today was all business and to forget that it is a fun national holiday.

Dressed aptly in a patriotic red dress, she wore it just a little too long o’er the knee–at least, by Ainsley’s standard and even the more demure Martha’s metric.  If was almost as if the tyro co-host were saying, “If you’re tuning in to F&FF and AN on Independence Day, you are such an FNC diehard that you are going to watch regardless of what I don or don’t.”

Nevertheless, it was delightful to see Cheryl finally sit in the F&FF and AN co-anchor chairs. The FBN jobs babe proved that she definitely has the potential to be an FNC anchor: I.e., she has the beauty–and brains. But, she may well want to remember that a visibly leggy blond goes a long way on the channel–especially, during the holidays.

Break a leg, Cheryl: Or, show ‘em a bit more!

Dave’s Pol Babe Brandi

May 24, 2014

Briggs: “What a good wife you would be”–and are! Current SportsDash co-host and former Fox and Friends Weekend co-anchor Dave Briggs proudly announced that his beauty Brandi Briggs was back on the political stage last night. Dave’s better half was nominated to run for Connecticut state rep by the Westport Republican Town Committee. The blond “barrister” beauty and mother of three will run against Dem Jonathan Steinburg to represent the 136th District.

Aly: “One More Month”

May 24, 2014

Camerota “back to TV”! Today, former Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Alisyn Camerota signaled that she will return to television in a month seemingly. Shortly, after her erstwhile signature show ended this morning, the former queen of the curvy couch responded to a fan’s plea, “[I]f you’re done messing around, could you please come back to TV now? #wemissyou”: In reply, she answered, “How bout one more month of messing around?”

“One more month”: The Camerota countdown begins!

F&F Embarrasses Ailes?

May 10, 2014

Steve Doocy: “Shepard must be happy!” Almost two years to the day that Studio B anchor Shepard Smith announced that he could not show the Trampoline Bear vid anymore, Fox & Friends resurrected the odious decade-old footage of a black bear falling from a tree onto a trampoline and subsequently doing a hard head-first plunge into an unforgiving ground.* To make matters worse, they ran the seemingly sadistic footage twice.**

Perchance, it was the F&F producer who has an apparent fixation on the “wussification of America” that made the callous call. Regardless, it must embarrass FNC chief Roger Ailes who seems to have tried to embrace a more animal-friendly approach with glowing coverage of his now deceased friend‘s favored Westminister Dog Show at Madison Square Garden and his underlings’ F&F fun, informative F&F segments with famed wildlife advocate Jack Hanna–not to mention, their whilom “Good Shepard‘s” “Cool Critters” stories.

It’s time for Shine to have Ailes’ back re animal rights. And, it’s time for his rogue producers to end the Trampoline Bear airings. It’s been over ten years since it was news: Now, it should be history!

[Author’s aside: Re Steve Doocy‘s Shep quote, supra, he said that at the beginning of F&F‘s May Day show when co-host Brian Kilmeade joked that Russia had said that that “bear on the trampoline is now [America's] ticket to space.”]

Sambora Strums Ainsley

May 3, 2014

Tucker Carlson: “There was a lot of touching…It was getting a little steamy! We cut away at the end.” Blond beauty FNC anchor Ainsley Earhardt had rocker Richie Sambora all hot and bothered this morning seemingly. In fact, by the end of her interview of the lead guitarist of Bon Jovi, she appeared to have the bad boy all primed for a romp in her perfumed “Bed of Roses” at Churchill Downs.

In the bumper promo preceding Ainsley’s interview of Sambora, Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Anna Kooiman cooed, “Our Ainsley Earhardt is at Churchill Downs. A very special guest: who’s that?”* As the camera panned to Ainsley and the Bon Jovi rocker, Sambora amorously caressed Ainsley’s bare left shoulder: Beaming, Ainsley animatedly answered, “I never thought I would say this but I’m getting warmed up by Richie Sambora.” Embracing her tightly, Sambora remarked, “Wooh! I’m getting warmed up, too, Baby!” As Anna chuckled off-camera, a reddening Ainsley turned to Sambora, exclaiming, “Thank you!”

After the commercial break, Anna and her co-hosts, Tucker Carlson and Clayton Morris, introduced the Kentucky Derby segment. Segueing to Ainsley’s interview, Anna remarked, “Our very own Ainsley Earhardt looking good! She’s doing some star-gazing right now, though: Who’s there with you, Ainsley?” Still in the embrace of Sambora, Ainsley replied, “One of our Fox favorite celebrities, Richie Sambora is here with me. Anna, you’re looking good in your hat.” Turning to Sambora, she added, “And, you look good, too!” Looking into her eyes, Sambora responded, “Oh, sweetheart! No, you look beautiful! Honestly, Ainz!”

Before the split-screen ended, viewers were treated to the priceless reactions of the co-hosts: Tucker’s jaw literally dropped and his eyes rolled as he looked at Anna in incredulity. Turning toward Tucker, a similarly disbelieving Anna smilingly arched her eyebrows, gnashed her teeth, and looked downward. Meanwhile, Clayton managed merely a chuckle as tried to look away.

During the interview itself, the mutual admirers discussed Sambora’s Barnstable Brown (B.B.) performance, his donation of his custom-made Swarovski guitar played at the B.B. to a diabetes charity, and their shared diabetes concerns. Before the confab was over, Ainsley smilingly noted, “US Weekly just voted you and Heather Locklear, your ex-wife–you have a daughter together–voted you the happiest exes. What’s the secret?” When Sambora replied that one has to keep the child’s interest first and that he thought he and his ex were better friends now than we they were married, Ainsley answered, “Good!”

Subsequently, Ainsley mentioned Santora’s designing of clothes, giving him the opportunity to plug his companies, Nikki Rich (women) and Chrome (men): After doing so and picking his Derby horse (California Chrome), he casually commented, “But, I did, I did buy you something, Baby!” As Santora reached into his back pocket, a flattered Ainsley asked, “What did you buy me?” “From the gift shop,” intoned Sambora.

Flushed, Ainsley queried, “You bought this for me?” Boldly, Sambora replied, “Yes, I did, Darling!” As he handed what appeared to be a short white skirt (with a powder blue Churchill Downs print), an appreciative Ainsley responded, “Vineyard Vine(s), this is the official designer of the Derby. How beautiful is that! Right up my alley!”

“[My] pleasure!” answered Sambora. And it was to be. As Ainsley displayed his tribute to her for the camera, Sambora reached forward and downward toward her blue-dress-clad hip. Patting Ainsley’s hip thrice, Sambora slyly said, “Hey, it matches your thing.” Elated, Ainsley answered, “How great! Thank you so much!…Thanks, Richie! And, thanks for being there with us today!”

As Ainsley hugged him anew, Sambora aptly exclaimed, “My pleasure!”

When the beaming Ainsley segued to her three co-hosts, Anna took the toss: Holding up her ring finger a la Beyonce, Anna scolded, “Richie, easy! We know you like your blondes but she does have a ring on her finger.” Turning to Clayton, she laughed, “I think he’s really liking his Ainsley Earhardt today.”

Not willing to cast such stones too hard, Clayton jested, “There’s a lot of touching going on down there at the Derby. Well you know why: The mint juleps have been flowing since 7 a.m.”

Holding Sambora close, an unrepentant Ainsley riposted, “I’m not letting go!” Concurring, Sambora exclaimed, “I’m not letting go either!”

Nor were Ainsley’s F&FW colleagues: Not surprisingly, meteorologist Janice Dean was intent on joining in on their fun. As the show concluded with producers giving a shout-out to Ainsley’s hatmaker Frank Olive Hats (with two pics of its hats atop Ainsley), Anna declared, “It’s no wonder that Richie Sambora was putting the moves on our Ainsley Earhardt: She looked so good out there the last couple of days at the Derby.”

Interjecting, meteorologist Janice Dean exclaimed, “Where’s the picture, where was the picture of Richie Sambora?” Almost unresponsively, Clayton commented, “He was pretty close there.” Not satisfied, Janice demanded, “Like what was he doing?” Snuggling up to Clayton playfully with both of her arms around his shoulders and raising her right knee toward his body, Anna chuckled, “The whole interview was like this.” Concurring, Clayton chuckled, “It was like this. ‘Don’t stop.'”

Stirring the proverbial pot, Tucker chimed, “There was some touching.” Racily, Janice rejoined, “Some touching?” Smiling goatishly, Tucker answered, “There was a lot of touching, actually.” With mock concern, Janice queried, “It was TV friendly, though?

In a denouement of the F&FW fun du jour, Tucker riposted, “Oh, yeah! No, it was totally within bounds but it was getting a little steamy! We cut away at the end.”

Missing Aly: I Plan to Come Back

April 27, 2014

Camerota and Chetry back together again: “That would be a blast.” Former Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Alisyn Camerota has been reaching out to her fervid fans and letting them know that she may have left the FNC building but she is ready for an encore. In a fab flurry of Tweets, the formerly Twitter-phobic queen of the curvy couch is loving on her acolytes in an unprecedented fashion. And, the too oft censored Camerota has a website for them and it ain’t FoxandFriends.com: It’s the one and only alisyncamerota.com.

Last month, the Bristol Bay Babe roiled the intrigue, when an admirer Tweeted, “Where ARE you??!”: Coyly, Aly answered, “At the moment CVS.” Subsequently, another devotee wrote, “What kind of dastardly scheme is this? Where are you going, Alisyn?” Deftly, she jested, “It’s quite nefarious.” When another asked why she had left FNC and whether it had been her former America’s News Headquarter’s co-host Bill Hemmer’s fault, she joked, “Exactly! @BillHemmer = diva.” Fanning her devotee’s desire all the more, she later Tweeted, “For anyone wondering what I’ve been up to…: Included in her missive was an pulchritudinous photo of the bathing beauty posing like a Hollywood starlet with a sexy come-hither look.

Less than two weeks ago, Aly continued to stoke the fires of her fervent followers. When a true-blue F&FW fan of hers Tweeted, “You and @kiranchetrytv should team up again. You two were great.” Quickening the zeal of such votaries from the golden age of F&FW, she teased, “That would be a blast:” When another devotee chimed, “Bring back Julian Phillips so you’ll have someone to pick on ;),” Aly artfully answered, “Another good idea.”

Later, the queen of the curvy couch gave her restless troops a semi-serious message. When a soldier in her amorous army asked, “My queen, we miss u so much. any marching orders for the nation of camerota?,” she declared, “I preach patience — pizza for all!

The pizza sounds good, Aly: But, your return would be even better! Hurry back–and bring the comely Kiran Chetry with you!

[Author's aside: Re the title, supra, when an Aly Twitter follower yesterday remarked, " hope all is well..will you ever come back to TV so we can see your beautiful smile again?," she answered, Thanks! I plan to...."]

Kiran: Back on Fox News!

April 16, 2014

At least, for a few seconds. Yesterday, former FNC anchor Kiran Chetry reappeared on the network that made her famous–and that infamously “fired” her. Last night, on the Kelly File, the Nepalese beauty was included in a montage of  host Megyn Kelly’s snippets (concerning View co-host Jenny McCarthy‘s position on vaccinations):  In a CNN clip, Kiran is shown for about five seconds during her American Morning interview of the autism activism advocate.* Even though Kiran was not acknowledged by a chyron or Megyn herself, it was still a delight for Kiran’s loyal Fox & Friends fans to see their fave fox back on FNC–even if but for a moment or two and on vid–especially, since she has been virtually M.I.A. as of late.

Cheering her acolytes all the more, Kiran’s karma may be looking bright anew: If so, it would be a veritable “blast from the past.” When her whilom Fox & Friends Weekend co-host, Alisyn Camerota, was told earlier yesterday (before the Kelly Files aired) “you and @kiranchetry should team up again: You two were great,” Aly responded, “That would be a blast rt”! One that Fox News would well deserve since its Executive VP of Programming, Bill Shine, inanely ushered both FNC fan favorites, Kelly and Aly, unceremoniously out the FNC door.

Kiran and Aly Kat together again? Foxes and Friends!
