F&F’s “666″ Scare

Alert, FNC alarmists! On the day that Democratic nominee Barack Obama is expected by most Fox News pundits to win the presidency, Fox & Friends started off with an 18 second blank screen except for the clear colorful subtitles and ticker.* N.B. 18 is a combination of the digits in 666! Was there an ominous, subliminal message that Obama is the devil or that it itself, FNC, is?

Gals and guys, just kidding! On this day of electoral gravity, a bit of levity seemed in order. The “significance” of the dark screen, the 18 seconds, and today’s political drama seemed to beg for a an imaginative inane interpretation.

Ladies and gents, Election Day is finally here! After the endless commercials, media coverage, and politicking, it’s your turn to be finally heard. Whether you are for Libertarian Bob Barr, Republican John McCain, Independent Ralph Nader, Democrat Barack Obama, or another presidential candidate, get out there and pull the proverbial lever. Let’s keep our nation’s democracy strong and vibrant!

Obama “Salutes” McCain

At a Jacksonville, FL, rally of supporters on election eve, Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama “saluted” his Republican opponent John McCain for his hard-fought campaign. As Obama spoke of McCain, he rubbed the left side of his face with his right hand’s forefinger and then his middle finger in a possible road rage gesture.* One is transported in time to Raleigh, N.C., where Obama gave a similar gesticulation when touching the right side of his face as he criticized his primary foe Hillary Clinton to a receptive audience.

Perhaps, Obama should stick to the old basketball “rattling of the keys” as a way of saying goodbye to his political opponents.

“We Don’t Need Another Hero”

The lyrics of Tina Turner, leggy queen of Southern soul, seem to echo in the minds of McCain’s Republican faithful now. Once again another GOP American war hero is playing second fiddle to his more youthful, charming, and charismatic Dem counterpart. Like World War II veteran Bob Dole, Bill Clinton’s 1996 presidential opponent, John McCain seems to have left his fighting spirit on the battlefield: perhaps, soon he’ll be happy making copious appearances on the talk show circuit and singing the praises of Viagra, too!

Gretch’s Roberts Redux?

Yesterday Gretchen Carlson seemed to give the viewer her Fox & Friends’ version of John Roberts’ American Morning moment. On September 5, 2008, when discussing Barack Obama’s concern about being “swift-boated,” Roberts asked, “Do we risk, or does the Democratic Party here risk, Barack Obama becoming John Kerry II?” Yesterday, approximately a month later, in a segment on the Sarah Palin/Joe Biden debate with Bias author Bernard Golderg, F&F co-host Gretchen complained to Goldberg about a national newspapers’ headline that read “Biden Wins” when a mere 51% in the cited poll agreed. She asked, “Is that what we’re still up against?”

Did Gretchen inadvertently signal Fox & Friends’ presidential preference? To be fair, did Roberts’ slip manifest American Morning’s predilection? They report: You decide.
