A.M.: Asexual Menage (a Trois)?

More March madness? Today, American Morning co-anchor Kiran Chetry expectantly picked up the plural-marriage baton that HBO’s Big Love had dropped late last night. Instead of having her usual single “work spouse,” Kiran had two (for this AM audition), hubby Ali Velshi and sister-wife Christine Romans (CNN biz anchors, respectively, Your $$$$$ and Your Bottom Line). But, unfortunately, for AM, without even a soupcon of sexual tension.

To make matters worse today, AM executive producer Jim McGinnis seemed intent on lessening it between Kiran and Christine and their admiring AM viewers. I.e., in front of the open AM desk generally displaying their gorgeous gams, McGinnis placed two huge television screens with the obnoxiously omnipresent “AM” logo emblazoned thereon.

Hopefully, McGinnis will soon well remember CNN chief Ken Jautz’s sage advice that “CNN shows…[should be]…more lively and passionate and engaging in the presentation.” Perhaps, then he can earn Jautz’s confidence when he said that AM was in “good hands” with McGinnis. Time and ratings will tell.

Watching AM today, Kiran looks, quite frankly, like a real bi-otch today. She keeps looking off camera, or barely hiding her contempt for Velshi and Romans who clearly are enjoying their little audition and at least like one another. It’s like she’s wondering what the heck she did to deserve this. Well, Kiran, you’ve had about six different cohosts and the ratings still stink. What’s the common denominator? Um – YOU are. Jake – you clearly dig the hot ladies, but I’ll speak for at least some female viewers. She strikes me as arrogant and aloof – and women don’t watch women they don’t like. We’re an important demo, and they need to find a female anchor we’ll warm up to. They seem to be rearranging all the deck chairs – the anchors, the meteorologists, bringing in sports people once in a while. I think their best shot is playing up the international angle they’ve used successfully over the past few weeks.

It is odd that Kiran gets to stay while everyone else has to leave. Perhaps she’s the only perfect one there. Ms. Chetry has been self-absorbed since her Fox News days. The constant looking off camera ritual was as annoying then as it is now. Left wing kook and abortion cheerleader Katie Couric is Kiran’s mentor. Need I say any more?

[...] No, Kiran. Happily, more like Fox & Friends. Hopefully,  AM executive producer Jim McGinnis finally did remember CNN chief Ken Jautz’s sage [...]

  4. Kiran & Friends: But, For How Long? « Carpe Diem Says:

[...] Since then, T. J. has come and gone (and even had a shorter stint than he had anticipated). When T. J. left, Christine joined Kiran for a short all-gal audition. After only one week, Ali turned that duo into an asexual AM menage a trois. [...]
